I'm only on the 32nd episode of the HxH 2011 anime and so far I'm liking it. At first I was gonna put the show in my automatic not watch section because the main character was a child (I don't know why but i have a thing for hating action shows staring heroes 13 and under). After seeing it though I don't mind it, and actually think the show is awesome. It's kinda weird to compare but it kinda reminds me of the light-hearted but intense story of One Piece. I only heard the that the Chimera arc is the only arc in HxH where the story gets a little overboard and killings and massacres happen (just what i hear).
I haven't seen the 1st movie but I'll gladly watch it after seeing the rest of the 2011 episodes, then I'll wait for this one.

Ah, so this was the awaited announcement that was made after the film? Well, alright. Not what I hoped for but more HxH is more HxH.

But a movie with Netero sounds pretty awesome.

I'll purchase multiple copies of the movie on Blu-ray. Kurapika needs more page and air-time, dammit!

A second movie is fairly big. What were you hoping for? (I haven't seen the series myself, but a movie still seems like a big announcement)

HELL YEAH!
Let's hope the author is also involved with the plot for the 2nd film as well!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the manga go on a hiatus yet again, recently? I know it's insanely popular in Japan, but it keeps me wondering why does it seem to have such a loyal fanbase, when it's infamous for its tendency to go on and off from hiatus
I haven't read it, mind you, I've intended to watch the 2011 show but haven't had time. I just don't feel like investing myself into a story -speaking of the manga- when I'm not even sure if it's ever going to end or if the author will get tired of the story and never return from the hiatus -I think the last one lasted more than a year, right?- I really don't want to go through something like NANA or X that will just stay like that, unfinished, until the end of time
Just something I've been pondering

In the worst case scenario there is a point in the manga after the next couple of arcs where Madhouse could end the anime without leaving it on a cliffhanger so the show itself should be fine. I am hoping Togashi will start up the manga again before that has to be taken into consideration though.

Doesn't surprise me. Projections put this movie at around 300-350 million yen for the week-end (there's a giveaway promotion just like what is done for One Piece) which will be enough to top the box office and which will be a great result for a first movie. Still, I wonder if a 2nd movie without Togashi's imput will actually bring in the viewers...very few movie franchise actually do well (> 2 billion yen) without their author's help (Doraemon, Pokemon and Conan, are, I think, the only ones).

Estimates for the week-end are at around 430 million yen. It should have no problem reaching 2 billion yen at the end of its run. Very impressive.

That is rather good news, and even better to learn that it could be centered on Netero this time.
Well, seems like I have one more reason to go see this film soon enough (I allegedly admit I forgot it was released already...). But yeah let's just hope Togashi is involved, it's always better with the author behind the making (just looking at One Piece recent films is a good answer to it)

OH togashi, just when i thought that you were gonna announce the return of the manga or something tangible. but no.instead you'll just let the anime, the one that has 3 years of material to work off, catch up and end. a huge buffer at that.
oh togashi,oh you

Final numbers :
357,976 admissions
¥456,779,000 ($5.4 million)
on 257 screens.
Great numbers. It even beat Skyfall's opening gross.
