Hehe, been a while since I typed something in corporate speak...
Anyway, I entered a bunch of credits for Giant Killing recently, and I found a few things of note: Tsutomu Shibutani and Tsutomu Shibuya both have the same kanji, 渋谷 勤. I don't know how to read it, but a google search for '渋谷 勤 "しぶや"' brings up 7 hits. And '渋谷勤 "しぶたに"' brings none. Both encyclopedia entries have him working for Nakamura Productions, and all credits that are credibly sourced online correctly have 渋谷勤 listed for the appropriate task. Masako Onazawa and Masako Onasawa both have the same kanji name, 小野沢雅子, though the latter's is enclosed in parenthesis. Is this a romanization method issue? Miho Azuma and Miho Higashi both have the same kanji, 東美帆. When I search for '東美帆 "あずま"' I find 75 hits, including this page for an animator named Miho Azuma (though presented in Japanese name order), but I have no idea of the veracity of the site. Also, her only credit listed there is for Bihada Ichizoku, whose page here is all but barren. '東美帆 "ひがし"' has 8 results, but nothing of interest. Tetsuichi Yamagishi and Tetsukazu Yamagishi have the same kanji name, 山岸徹一. Again, I can't read it, but '山岸徹一 "てついち"' and 山岸徹一 "てつかず" both show only 1 hit each, a name reading site of some sort. 鈴木孝聡 is credited as a Unit Director (演出) and for Storyboard (絵コンテ) but we have nobody by that name at ANN. However, somebody entered a credit with a precision of 鈴木孝聡 for Takaaki Suzuki (animator). Unit Director and Storyboard are fairly high level jobs, so I wanted to figure out who 鈴木孝聡 is. Any reading assistance? Online kanji converters are having trouble with the 孝聡, but give a surname of Suzuki. And now I'm falling asleep, but I have a few more that I'll add tomorrow. |

I've moved all credits of Miho Higashi to Miho Azuma. It's a surname that many native Japanese speakers would be confused, and its kanji (東) requires furigana in all printed material.
The case of 鈴木孝聡 is a bit confusing: a website AniPon has listed his name as "Takaaki Suzuki," along with Giant Killing credit. The English Wikipedia, along with a number of Russian websites, list his name as "Takatoshi Suzuki," a name we have but with no info or credit (I have no idea why). The name can also lead us to a Facebook page, with kanji 鈴木孝聡 and romaji Takatoshi Suzuki (log in/out your own Facebook in another browser tab to see his page in different languages). Among his favorites are the manga and anime of Giant Killing. I'm not sure how authoritative AniPon is; all other sources -- though not very authoritative either -- list his given name as Takatoshi, and one of them *might* be his own page. I'm afraid that no credible page exists for the spelling of the rest of names. |

Thanks dormcat. What do you suggest I do with 鈴木孝聡? That facebook page looks an awful lot like it should be the guy we're looking for. He is wearing a soccer jersey in his profile picture and includes a bunch of soccer stuff in his likes too.
And here is the remainder of my list. I don't think much but the third one will be of much interest though. Sachiko Mori and Yukiko Mori both have the same kanji name, 森幸子. It looks like X森幸子 is a pretty common name, so there are tons of search results, but I don't have the language skills to pare down results. Mami Imamura and Asami Imamura have the same kanji, 今村麻美. Like above, I gots a wealth of search results and a dearth of skillz. Shuue Kuwahara and Chiake Kuwabara share the same kanji name, 桑原周枝. I found another drillspin site that uses that kanji, but romanizes it as Chiake Kuwahara. (she's kind of connected if you take a look at the names appearing here.) And incidentally, isn't Shuue a masculine name and Chiake a feminine name? |

I knew and I was tempted to move all credits there. Let's wait a day or two to see if others have something to input before making the move.
Doh, these two are "Jane Smith"-type of names. It's virtually impossible to confirm these common names unless we could contact the persons directly. 
Fortunately, the correct spelling is not too far away.  All credits moved.

I agree with the move. In addition to the evidence already mentioned, I noticed one of his friends is a fellow unit director Takeshi Furuta and he also worked on Giant Killing. Only thing I have to add is the credits under Takasato Suzuki also belong to him. I popped in my "Is this a Zombie?" DVD from FUNi to see what they credit him as, and it's "Takasato Suzuki" as well. The Facebook proof looks reliable, though, so I'd count on "Takasato" being an error (as there's no telling if they got confirmation on the name or not: they may have even gone off of ANN's spelling, since the info was there before they licensed the series) |

Looks like there's no objection; I've moved post-2000 episode director credits to Takatoshi Suzuki (鈴木孝聡).
For the record: while -sato, -toshi, and even -aki could all stand for 聡, -aki is the least likely. |
