Well we do not know in what way the pain affected the body, perhaps Kirito too expected that the pain would leave him crippled for some period of time. But unfortuantly from the bit we see so far it looks like the cheek cut, arm loss, cut in half, hair pull and face stab, he seems to have some lingering effects of crazy eye. He is not doing too well, but Kirito probably finished him off much faster than villain planned to do to Kirito.

Oh, that probably would be the best thing, but A) I think we can all agree that Kirito isn't in a rational state of mind at this point, and B) would the police actually believe such an outlandish story, especially coming from a teenager? Granted, Kirito probably has a higher degree of credibility because of his past dealings with authorities, but still, he has no evidence.
Quote: | One thing though that seems kind of strange, Suguo had said in the game that if he set the pain setting down to a certain level, any harm caused in the game would cause "serious bodily damage." Before Kirito finished him off in such extremely gruesome fashion (cutting off his arm, slicing him in half, then throwing his upper torso/head up in the air and skewering it on a huge sword), he set the pain setting to 0. The main thing I will probably be wondering about is, how is Suguo not a vegetable as a result? Or at least, how is he able to transition to a knife wielding maniac? |
I was surprised that the last episode is going to go in this direction, but I probably shouldn't have been. After all, that scene taking place makes sense on multiple levels. Maniacal villains do tend to go after the protagonists personally when their master plans are foiled, and even if Sugou wasn't a bit crazed from the experience (and I thought the preview clearly showed that there had been some physical effect), eliminating the one outsider (other than Asuna) who knows such a dastardly secret seems a smart move, given what's at stake for him.

While probably not Kirito's thinking, it's a good idea to make sure that Asuna safely logged out and woke up before calling the police. Kirito just has a wild story at the moment. Getting a hold of someone that will take him seriously at this time of night will consume large amounts of time, and the people who will quickly take him seriously at his word will likely not be numbered among the people that answer Japan's 110 emergency number. Once he verifies Asuna's actually awake, her simply being awake is evidence their story is true, and he'll have an easier time getting a hold of someone that can do something. It might still take a lot of time to do that, but he'll be with Asuna while making the attempt.

Actually, I think it would have been better for Kirito to tell Suguha to call the police as he was running out of the house. Then he could have still confronted the (strangely sprightly) knife wielding maniac Suguo, and just as the villain was about to stab him and proclaim his victory, he could be cut down in a hail of bullets from the police who arrived at the very last second. That would be an appropriate dramatic ending for this show

we are missing a crucial piece of info here: where was Sugou logged in from? is it closer to the hospital than Kazuto's house?

I don't think that really matters. Sugou has a car, Kazuto doesn't. Also, Kazuto lingered for a bit in-game.
Personally, if I thought I needed backup and the authorities wouldn't listen, I'd call Agil. I doubt he's really thinking about that though.

being bare handed against a knife is actually a good thing. people untrained in knife fighting will be at a disadvantage wielding a knife because of the balance needed to use it properly plus the hand in a grip holding it is slower to move. kirito is a swordsman if he was holding a sword he'd be fine but a knife would actually screw him up.
also sugu is a paper pusher chances are his ability with a knife will end at wild flailing. another plus for kirito being able to defend against him. what kirito should do first is unzip his parka as quickly as possible to loosen the fabric so the knife doesn't penetrate as easily and then keep a good arms length between him and sugu till dummy commits to an attack. deflect the knife arm and then crush his adams apple with every bit of strength he can put into it.

Bwahaha I'm 4'11!!! (is useful for cosplaying lolis though)
That preview was awesome! Can't wait!! Maybe Sugou's not as lame as we thought, eh? BLAWD. I see BLAWD.
But you know, if Sugou uses a weapon against Kazuto and doesn't let HIM use one too....he is a total coward. >:/

In the U.S., 5' 4.5" is the average for an adult woman. Certain racial groups will vary, of course. (Hispanics descended from Mayan bloodlines tend to be much shorter on average, for instance.)

I'm 5'5", so I tower over the average adult woman.

Unusual bright side to your height...

I think he was a coward back when he first decided to marry a comatose girl, or perhaps when he made it impossible to reach him without admin privs, or perhaps when he cheats during the fight. I think he has long since proven his cowardice.

Isn't it!? It bothered me as a kid in school (I was mercilessly harassed as you can imagine) but now I take pride in it and feel it's part of what makes me "me". :')

This is true....but now he's threatening a minor....and a minor who isn't exactly built like ox, at that. Let's face it; Kazuto's small, skinny, and got his ass beaten by his little sister at kendo. So this is a NEW level of cowardice for Sugou!

You were harassed for being pocket-sized? I thought most people liked collectible-sized women?

He's 5'7"; not too small. I was about to say he probably weighs 130 lbs, then realized I could look it up: he weighs 59kg (129.8 lbs). So yeah, definitely skinny, slightly less than I am while also being slightly taller than me. As for kendo: do you mean in the past or shortly after coming out of a coma? On average, people are less physically capable after a coma (based on the last time I surveyed coma patients).

I don't think a normal person would call the police now. First, nobody is going to believe him. it's just waste of time.
It would be better to call the agency that was handling the SAO case.
Secondly, if Asuna doesn't wake up, there is no case. the police or Asuna's father will not do anything about it.

Episode 25/Finale
Well, it's finally over. I have to say that this finale didn't live up to my expectations but it was great to see most of the characters again from the previous episodes like Keiko, Lizbeth, Yuriel, etc.
Nobuyuki Sugou had his coming though in this finale, especially what he has put Kirito and Asuna through in ALO. Other than that, this final episode was meh for me. Overall though, I rate this series as good. It's not nothing too special imo but still watchable and enjoyable on the weekends for me.
Now, season 2 in the future? I wonder. I didn't see a promotional poster or anything for a season 2 and the only episodes left are the SAO: Offline episodes (one more debuting this month). With the sales though, I wouldn't be surprised.
