I'm 11 episodes in, and I just don't understand what people see in this series. Checked the encyclopedia and this series has a very high masterpiece rating, but where that comes from is beyond me. The show has a unique style but there's not a whole lot of action (and by action, I'm talking about general human movement). Not to say the animation is bad or anything, it's not but at the same time the animation isn't very stellar to me either. Some people also may enjoy the pacing, but personally it's bugging me. This series constantly has me dozing off, as all I see in this series is a glorified gang war. Does this series have a big payoff in the end or something? 11 eps. in and the only characters who I actually know something about are Onishi, Yoshi, and the scientist woman (forgot her name). Everyone else, even the main character have very sparadic screentime so I haven't been able to form any sort of attachment to them. So what can I expect out of this series? Is it going to be more of the same up until the final episode? Or is this coming "spectacle" going to make me glad I stuck around for the ride? I'll probably finish this show regardless though, seeing as how if I can sit through Destint and Naruto filler than I think I can watch just about anything. Just wanted some opinions on this show. Also, is the opening scene from episode 1 going to be explained?

i cant tell you wether or not the ending is great because i wound up giving up on this show. all i can really say is if you dont enjoy it, dont watch it. just because some other people like it doesnt mean that it is going to be your bag. there is so much stuff out there, why bother struggling through one series.

Im 16 episodes in, and personally I like it. I can understand though why some people wouldn't get it. The actual characters themselves feel pretty contrived yet I think the story is a pretty good one. The main guy character, Ichise (I think?), does get more screen time as well as Ran. So far as I can tell, I think the series is building up to something pretty good...

It's because Texhnolyze is highly unconventional. It doesn't follow the ordinary structure of a story at all. If you need (major) spoilers, check below:

Haha I couldn't help myself from reading the spoiler. Surprisingly my prediction was correct. Once I got into episode 5 or so I figured that would happen. But isn't that sort of thing a little on the conventional side of anime?

Unless you are being sacrastic, the above is not that unconventional. Super spolier spoiler[Everyone dies in the last two episodes of Dunbine. The world is destroyed in the end of Saikano. Don't all the main characters die in the end of Dancougar, or was that the original Dangaioh? The main characters go into a suicide run in the end of the Grey Digital target film. Likewise the end of Area 88 is left open ended, but I'm under the impression that everyone is going to die. The two main characters die (a bit open ended)in the end of Noir, as do the two main characters in Char's Counterattack. The last episode of Berserk has everyone except Guts killed. Almost everyone dies in the end of Gungrave.] I'm sure there are a few more examples but it isn't too uncommon. |

Obviously not every show out there is for everyone. I hear a lot of good stuff about Tenchi, and I absolutely hate that show. Personally, I like Texhnolyze. I've yet to see the ending, I'm missing volume 3 and don't want to watch the rest of the series without volume 3, so I can't comment on whats going to happen and I also didn't want to read the spoilers.
I really like the music, the intro is one of my favorite since I hate "J-Pop", the dark/gloomy atmosphere really gets to me too. I hate those animes where people act stupid and there is a sense of happiness throught the whole damn series, this series is different. |

I used to watch it, but the pacing killed me. I was about eleven episodes in and nothing had ever seemed to happen, and it didn't seem to think explaining what was going on was very important.

You can list as many individual examples as you want. But don't go redefining the word "unconventional" as "uncommon". You may think just because there are a lot more of "end of the world" type anime that they've become "usual", but that still doesn't make it the norm for me. And I'm far from being sarcastic. |
