I recently downloaded the track "Micky Mouse Club March." Is this actually on a Disney soundtrack or did they just do it for kicks it's kind of funny.

I thought it was part of a show, The Mickey Mouse Club show. It was an actual show if I recall. It's pretty old I think. Surprisingly I can still remember how the song goes. What does this have to do with anime though?

no no no the beat crusaders (a japanese band) did a cover of the Mickey Mouse club song. It has nothing to do with anime.

...and why won't they show their faces for crying out loud? They must really like those face-drawings....

I enjoy the paper faces, but it is their music thats makes these guys great. Musicrusaders is a solid album, even if its all cover songs. Their earlier songs like "Firestarter" and Eyes in the Sky" are some of my favorites.

Musicrusaders was actually the first album of theirs I've heard. I like the paper faces it's better than some of those mask bands although at least they can see. From the live tour footage of theirs I've seen they don't play with the faces on it just seems to be for publicity such at music videos, pictures, etc. Plus I find it humorous.

I just got the latest issue of Manga Magazine in the mail and it features an interview with the Beat Crusader's singer/guitarist. I'm actually amazed at how many American bands they actually have been influenced by even new indie bands like Chin Up Chin Up. Anyway back to the mask thing...
Q: I just have to ask one more question: What is going on with you wearing character masks and covering up your faces in your photos? Are those characters truly the Beat Crusaders?
A: When I first stared Beat Crusaders, I was a businessman in Japanese show biz. Basically, the band was totally my hobby, so I wasn't thinking about being famous in the beginning. Eventually, the omen ["mask" in Japanese] became well known...

Thanks for the info slick!...I like their gimmick too...it kinda lets people know that what they look like isn't important, what's important is their kick-a** music!

Oh yeah...that cover of the Mickey Mouse Club March. "Dive into Disney" was the album it came off of. It was actually released by Walt Disney Records eh.

no problem I love spreading the word. I get tired of those pig masks most masked bands wear.

Yes, I believe "Dive into Disney" was a Japan only release. I checked amazon.ca and it shows as an import.
ps: I've come across several of the tracks. The Beat Crusaders track is one of the better ones. The two others that I was impressed by were the covers of "Chim Chim Cher-ee" and "SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS". The latter was covered by Oi Skall Mates...Yes, they're a ska band...but I digress...

sweet! they're supposed to do the theme song for the new Nickelodeon show Kappa Mikey too. My mom canceled the cable yesterday so I won't get a chance to watch it though.

WOW!!! I guess Beat Crusaders might have a chance at making it big here. The only drawback: too many kids at the show.
