My oldest anime I have watched was G-force from 1972.
That anime is realy different from those new ones, like the color settings (that I think because it's realy old=P) and the drawing style (looks like a western cartoon imho). But then i searched around the site and found Alakazam the Great from 1960/61 (haven`t watched that one), thats really an old one ![]() ![]() Well, I don't think it can change that much, if it can then I have no idea how it would look like (maybe like Gankutsuou with moving backgrounds, really annoying imho ![]() What do you guys think ![]() |

-Atroboy (1963): one episode of the black/white anime, didn't continue the series because it was an English dub.
-Galaxy Express 999 series (only 7 subbed episodes are available ![]() |

Mobile Suit Gundam, which was made in the late 1970's ('78 or '79, I forget which), which was before I was born (I'm as old as Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeta Gundam, though....22 years old).

Well, I saw a few minutes of the original Astro Boy on TV once, but I didn't watch all of it since it was in the middle of the series and I wanted to start it at the beginning, but they only aired it that one time, so I didn't get to see any more of it. However, I'm not sure if it would count as the oldest because the version I saw was the colorized '80s version which I believe is the same as the old version just in color. If it doesn't count, then the oldest would be an episode of Kimba The White Lion (which had one of the worst dubs I've ever seen). The oldest anime movie I've seen has been Nausicaa and the oldest anime series I've seen in its entirety was the original Macross.

The original TV series started airing in 1979. For full length Gundam series, the starting date in the series (UC 0079, 0086, etc.) tell you the starting year. Just take the last two digits (like 79) and stick "19" in front of them. Or in the case of everything after Turn-A, add "20". The same does not apply to the short series or compiliation movies. Zeta aired in 1986, so that means you would be 20 (like me) if you were as old as it. Mobile Suit Gundam (the movies) is the oldest anime I have seen. I just watched them about a week ago. |

I thought zeta aired in 84. And the movies were made only a short time ago (in comparison to the series), though. MSG and Zeta are both far older. |

I guess I have several answers for this...I've seen some random episodes of Gatchaman (from 1972? or so), and the oldest movie I've seen is Taro the Dragon Boy (1979). I've seen random bits of various 1980s series, but the oldest series that I've actually completely watched is Sherlock Hound (AKA Meitantei Holmes) (1984). Yes, I'm bad like that; I call myself a serious/hardcore fan, but I don't make much of an effort to track down and watch the older classic animes like Captain Harlock, Astroboy, Robotech, etc.

Uh, the oldest anime I've seen is Mach Go Go Go (aka. Speed Racer) which was made from 1967-1968. After that would come this thing which was made in 1980 and has too long of a name for me to bother putting. I vaguely remember seeing it on Nickelodeon when I was little. Both made by Tatsunoko coincidently. Guess a lot of the older ones are though. I generally don't watch older anime.

Speed Racer was my first. I saw it dubbed on American tv a long time ago. However, at that time I didn't know what anime was or why their mouths moved all funny.

You've SEEN it? ![]() As for me, I'm pretty sure the oldest anime I've seen is Tetsuwan Atomu, but I've also seen everything on this tape and some of those films were probably made earlier; I don't remember any dates, unfortunately. |

I think I saw some Gigantor once. But I know for certain that I have seen Mazinger Z, so that's the oldest anime I can be certain I've seen.
