Well if you're gonna take a premise from elsewhere, taking one from Alan Moore is a pretty good start.

I don't see what Alan Moore has to do with Naruto.

That's cause it was overseen by Kishimoto himself and was full of fanservice.

The plot line of the movie borrows VERY heavily from "For the man who has everything" a classic Superman story written by Moore and later turned into a Justice League episode.

Not surprisingly, when you consider that latest chapters have both a Star Wars and Matrix vibe.

Where did Kishimoto say this?

Because Alan Moore totally invented the concept of Alternate Universes.
To get back on topic, that doesn't really say much. Most of the Naruto movies were either boring or wall-bangingly stupid. They were basically 90-minute filler episodes. However, I guess since Kishi (aka, someone that actually cares) wrote it, I should have higher hopes.

I don't know a single thing about the plot to Road to Ninja, but For the Man Who Has Everything is not so much about alternate universes as it is about the bad guy trying to get the hero out of the way by tricking him into accepting a simulated world where he gets all he ever wanted as the real thing, and his companions attempts at rescuing from that.

He doesn't have to say anything. If viewers can notice the similarities between the two, that's all that matters.

naruto movies are so damn terrible they make me want to throw-up
I dont understand how people can waste their money on terrible anime movies that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the series other than re-using the main characters.
I dont know about this latest naruto movie, but it does look better than the previous ones.
pokemon movies are also a rare exception, most of them have been good.
that 'will of fire' 'king' stuff was so annoying - 5 episodes was enough, you need not remind me every other episode for the whole season of pointless filler.
If you want to make a good naruto movie all you have to do is take naruto and sasuke and do some man on man action. that is it.
but you can throw in some hinata too.
and a throw in her bicycle, as well.
