Was posted on an automotive forums I frequent. I know the song is from Initial D, but who the heck are the people in the video?

Pfhahaha! That was hilarious!

According to the video's description:

"This is the cover of the well-known eurobeat hit NIGHT OF FIRE, by the HINOI Team, and Korikki. Korikki is a wrestler guy.."

Google doesn't seem to be turning that much info on him...

It seems that HINOI Team is a new idol group. I looked at the discography section of their Official Website and thier oldest CD is only from May 2005. The music group itself is just the four girls--Askua Hinoi, Hikaru Koyama, Rina Takenaka, and Keika Matsuoka--but in the particular video you linked to, the pro-wrestler Korikki Chushu made a cameo appearance. For some... strange... reason.

Very droll.

Boy, they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for idol groups, these days.

I liked their Ichigo 100% ending single (Ike Ike) but it's been downhill from there. Confused

This video is just like the film On Deadly Ground; terrible direction and laughably awful.

Because of this song, Korikki is another induction into the Hall of Shame of professional wrestlers trying to break into the music industry.

Musically speaking, aren't idol groups in general already the bottom of the barrel? Wink

On a separate note, the Paradise Kiss anime led to my discovery of this really awkward video by Tommy February 6. It's my new favorite bad/strange music video. Abarenbo Shogun's post reminded me of it all of a sudden. It's even funnier/worse if you're familiar with Spike Jonze's Sabotage video for the Beastie Boys. I really like the song, though.

Point. In fact, I rather did like Ike Ike, but this is just funny (as in: funny-weird, not funny-haha).

I've seen that video, and it damn near ruined my liking for the song (which is great). I'm as much a fan of deliberately bad music videos as you are, but this one just rubbed me completely the wrong way. And yes, I am familiar with the video for Sabotage.

Believe me, I completely acknowledge its badness. Your disliking it proves you have taste, if nothing else. It's completely obvious that the singer (forgive me, I'm not familiar with all of the individual musicians' names and would rather just type out this sentence than do a google search) is taking direction off camera the entire time. She looks uncertainly at the camera, makes a movement or action, glances nervously to the side, and then looks back at the camera again for her next awkward move. ^^;

For me, there was a certain charm there. (I normally like to think I have good--or at least decent--taste most of the time.)

"If nothing else", indeed. It's "a poor thing, but mine own". When I am penniless and destitute and wandering the streets, I will take out my taste and warm myself by it on the cold winter nights. Very Happy

Tommy february6 is 川瀬智子 (Kawase Tomoko), formerly lead singer and lyricist of the brilliant green (who are currently on hiatus). She's also married to the band's bassist, Okuda Shunsaku.

Ah, yes. I save my most useful attribute (punctuality) to comfort me on nights like those. It doesn't work very well, though... Wink

Thank you for the information, as always! (To self: Should've done the google search...)

When I watched it, I wasn't quite sure whether to laugh, or cry. So I compromised, and gaped at it's pathetic-ness, until I had to stop it halfway through.

To be honest, while that video and song is absolute rubbish they did have two pretty good videos before this. I think that as a new group they were trying to gain some publicity points by featuring Korikki but this particular stunt backfired.

BTW hard to believe the girls are only 13.
