Samurai 7 is not a sequel, but it is based on the classic 1954 movie 7 Samurai, AKA "Shichinin no Samurai," directed by Kurosawa Akira. The plotlines are fairly similar, except that the anime series has all that mecha and whatnot. I haven't seen too much of Samurai 7, but I do recommend watching the movie; it's an important part of Japanese culture and cinema history. If you like Samurai 7, it's definitely worth the 2.5+ hours of your time to understand the original work.

Well, you're probably thinking of Seven Samurai, the movie by Akira Kurosawa, on which Samurai 7 is a remake. Other than that I can't think of anything.

Is this movie found in Sub or Dub? Also, is it a hard movie to find(dvd or vhs)?

Akira Kurosawa is one of my fav. directors if you liked the 7 Samurai then I suggest checking out Yojimbo. Anyway I just got Samurai the first DVD of Samurai 7 last night in the mail. Watched all four episodes and was very impressed at how they memoralize(sp?) Akira's work, and just how well the animations are done. I can't wait until I can see the rest Also has anyone else noticed how Pixar's "A Bugs Life" is also based off Akira's 7 Samurai?
