It's 6 volumes, not 5 volumes, btw. I should know... I own all 6 ^__^ http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=33685 ____________________________ See also: why did they put this on a Hentai line? Aki Sora didn't even have anything to pixel out... Last time I checked, hentai anime showed actual penetration, etc. Just rate it MA and put it on the normal Media Blasters line..... meh.... /care I'll buy it anyway lol. |

At this point however it's media blasters only chance of making revenue in return off of niche titles. I don't mind cheap generic harem shows like mayo chiki being picked up by sentai or cat planet cuties from funi they have their audience and sell well here. I personally like those titles along with aki-sora but I also like many other things as well, I'm looking forward to stein's;gate later this year along with to aru no index on dvd/bluray from funi but this is just me >_>. I don't think they will ever go down that route of smut/fan-service only shows, this is just a move on MB and kitty media to stay alive. |

First, that's a totally hypocritical attitude. I'm sure there are many analogous criticisms that can be said about Ai no Kusabi (mongrels, humans-as-pets, subservient relationships?), but hey how many people do you see flaming MB for licensing that kind of yaoi, and somehow the reversed is justified? Second, they didn't mention they were dubbing. Maybe they will but many hentai have been sub only recently.
Yeah, really wish they would've license all of them. In fact, why are they starting in the middle!?
I agree with just using an M rating too since the intercourse is not explicitly shown. The Kitty label will limit exposure, particularly in retail stores like Fry's, and sales. FWIW even Sentai is avoiding the AO route with Qwaser. Plenty of non-adult-only, unrestricted, or unrated, titles in the US that are more explicit than this. I list plenty of links in another thread Last edited by configspace on Tue Jul 24, 2012 3:40 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Hate to tell you, Ai no Kusabi has no insect in it and it's a tragic love story, that's not put into MB's kitty line. It's a classic title that's tasteful...not this sort of so called "anime" they pick up just because the guys are willing to spend their money on it. |

I wonder if this means Kiss x Sis has a chance of getting licensed now. It's not even as "incest-y" as Aki Sora

But it's a lot more "lolicon-y". |

Hooray. If there was anything that the American anime consumers were lacking, it's more sexy stuff. Certainly not morbid/black comedy like Sayonara Zetsubou-sensei. Those titles are dime-a-dozen. |

I just hope they don't pussyfoot around and change the subs to make it sound like they're step siblings. Sorry Zac, some of degenerate freaks do enjoy the blood incest stuff.
Would have it been better if this was handled by Kitty instead? No one seems to care at all what legitimate hentai anime are licensed, so a big stink is being raised here because this one isn't that kind of explicit. You know Kitty's licensed some amazingly shocking hentai over the years, but not a word, not one condemnation. I can only surmise the anger here arises that because it's being done by MB, the news can be posted. Last edited by walw6pK4Alo on Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:20 pm; edited 1 time in total |

That is merely your opinion because you find nothing objectionable about it. Heck, Aki Sora is tasteful to me, with characters who are attracted to each other. As I said, anyone can find analogous objections to such seme/uke yaoi. Heck in nature, inter breeding is much more common, so your objection to "incest" as if that's all the reason needed, while advocating your fujoshi-service title is irrational in that light. That's a myopic view that is states "I got mine, but you can't have yours. Why? Obviously mine > yours" Regarding the Kitty Media label. There's no need for it at all as I explained above since there's nothing explicit and is comparable to your regular non-adult movies and cable shows with sex. It'll hurt them more if anything since it limits sales and shelf exposure, plus it will disappoint people who normally expect more--much more--from Kitty Media titles (buyers expecting hentai will be asking, where's the c*ck and p*ssy?) Besides, none of the Queen's Blade series, nor will Seikon no Qwaser be labeled as porn either, but I don't think that makes them any more "tasteful" to you either |

Poor old Media Blasters. It seems pretty clear that their release "strategy" these days isn't so much, "what can we license that will sell big" as it is, " what can we pick up dirt cheap and get out the door with the absolute minimum of expense?" I don't know if they'll bother dubbing either OVA that they just picked up, but even if they do, it obviously is cheaper to dub a handful of episodes as opposed to a full series. Hard to believe, but these two licenses are the first that MB has announced in 2012.

I want to see that brought over here as well but the fact remains outside of 200 people "me and you included" who else is going to buy it? |

The same people who are buying the manga, enough so that it makes the New York Times manga list with regularity of a new volume release. If they bought 14 manga volumes, what's another 30-40 bucks for an anime series which likely was what hooked them in the first place. |
