Okay, so based from this article... the movie is canon? Then I guess Yo Son Gokou And Friends is canon too.
Looking forward to it, I hope it's not a joke like in Yo Son Gokou and Friends.

Sweet, I really got into DBZ during airings of the Boo arc, so I sort of love Trunks and Goten's little sideplots, so them being in this movie should be fun.

I misread the director's name as Mamoru Hosoda and was very confused...

My heart skipped a beat when I read the title. And then I realized it's animated and not live-action.

I totally laughed when I saw it was gonna take place between two manga chapters, then read about the 10-year gap in the story or whatever.

Isn't Dragon Ball over? I was under the impression that it was done with. I guess they will make Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z properties forever.
Cool for DB and DBZ fans though.

Well this has my attention, I agree Funimation needs to be watching this closely. I'm certain that they are.
Yes, DB and all it's permutations will likely be revisited indefinitely. Just like there will seemingly always be another Superman, Spider Man, Star Trek or Star Wars (Ugh! Just Ugh.) film coming from Hollywood.

Based from your statement you haven't watch too much DBZ have you? A single episode? Figures.

Yes! That gap is the perfect place for a film. I mean, seriously, they have 10 years worth of content, yet Toei has never taken advantage of this except for the Son Goku and Friends Return special.

I don't get FUNimation. They've done so many DVD releases of Dragon Ball Z, they've even dubbed Dragon Ball Kai. But they haven't grabbed stuff like The Plot to Destroy the Saiyans (the original or the remake, not counting the sub-only appearance on the video game), they haven't done Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return!, they haven't done the second Bardock special, and they probably won't get this either.
What they need to do is grab ALL the things I just mentioned and dub them with the Kai cast. even though it means recasting some characters, it'd be nice to have them all dubbed. Heck, I normally don't even watch dubs, but DB/Z/GT is one of the few that I DO like dubbed.

Actually, I think the period in the manga they chose is quite interesting. I have always wondered about life of other characters aside from Goku after the Buu arc.

Well, this should be interesting. Let's hope it's a long movie, not something 45-60 minutes long like most DBZ movies.

So you'd prefer more of a Heaven's Gate length?

I've seen plenty of DBZ. But I can't remember manga chapters off the top of my head.
