I'm not going to lie, I think that's pretty cool FUNimation picked up a TV Drama, in particular it being Athena.

Hoping they open the gate for some more foreign dramas as well.

They have several from the noitaminA on Youtube, why don't they release them as a DVD set?!

Because that costs more money in several different ways.

Print on demand anyone? Also, it's a waste to keep them on Youtube.

The same reason they won't release The Tatami Galaxy as a DVD set.

Is that even feasible? I know it's possible, but it means procuring home video rights, and the distribution just seems like a logistical headache. Wouldn't it always be easier to print a batch and then "distribute on demand", which is exactly what's done right now? FUNi seems to commit to home video on shows if their numbers streaming were decent enough, as far as I can infer.

While Athena isn't my preferred type of drama (not even Choi Siwon's presence could make me interested in that show) I'm really, really happy to see other R1 licensors getting into the K-drama business. I do love YA Entertainment but they release 1 series per month (so 12/year) and at that rate there's just no way they could pick up everything I'd like to buy (at least 3-5 per season, and that's not even counting the huge number of older titles to be cherrypicked). More R1 licensors = better chance for me to buy my favorites*. I hope it does well for them.

*This is of course assuming the titles will see DVD release and not just streaming, which maybe I shouldn't assume?

Kinda figured they wouldn't comment on anything coming to Toonami in the future, just reminding us that Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins are airing there!

Which happens to be the same reason they won't release Rainbow as a DVD set. Seriously. That show is bloody amazing.

Seems like everyone blew their wad of new titles at AX. Probably no more major new titles until the next anime season

And by "next anime season," you mean Otakon, right?

As much as I wished FUNi would pick up more seasons of Case Closed (though I'm contempt with the 130 episodes and 6 movies we have gotten, and that we're still getting the manga), I highly doubt that's what they're referring to. It's possible it could be the original Sailor Moon anime, but as usual, I'm not holding my breath.
