Good news that it's the same great director, that makes me hopeful none of the abundant nudity will be cut.

I don't know why I like this franchise. There is nothing especially original about it, but I still end up enjoying the shows anyways.I hope Sentai can get this series too. I've not heard how the first two series sold for them.

Well, I'm guessing the first series sold well enough for them to pursue the second. That's probably a positive sign.

It's a guilty pleasure show for many they can't bring themselves to hate it most of the time. A-lot of the character are overall enjoyable/fun which is another plus for the series besides being over generic.

Why do people keep on saying this? The last To Love Ru aired uncensored on broadcast, so I see no reason this one wouldn't too. Just wait a week to watch it on ATX.

This inspire me to ask in entirely sincere curiosity: Why aren't you just watching pornography? It's not beyond me to see the appeal of including sexualized content in a story, but the degree of emphasis that I've seen put on it makes me curious as to why some people turn to anime for that kind of satisfaction. Is it a matter of something not being available through other media, of some strange creative alchemy that I can't grasp or something else entirely that hasn't occurred to me?

So they finally decided that it's going to be a tv series? Last news story I saw mentioned that it was going to be an OVA series. Now it looks like there will be one OVA and the rest will be the tv series.
Either it's going to tone down some of the stuff or going to have a ton of "light" placed suggestively. Because even compared to the original To Love-ru manga, Darkness is more sexually suggestive(especially the parts with Momo).
Hopefully they'll get up to the story that introduces Tearju, considering they only have about 22 chapters-worth of material to work with. So I'm guessing we'll see a couple anime-only stories to fill-in, if it does Motto's 3 stories per an episode.

First, are we talking real porn or hentai anime? Yes, there's a massive difference. If we're discussing just hentai anime, because those are short stories with limited animation, and ecchi series only have the nudity as a side to other goings-on. It's about the titillation but not just cutting to the chase and blowing your load with cheesy dialog and animations that's 1 second long rocked back and forth. Maybe someone else can answer the question more eloquently, but ecchi anime is about the tease and stretching the boundaries as far you can do, and anime porn doesn't have that feeling. Besides all of that, it's Yabuki character designs, and he likes drawing them naked, and I liked seeing them.

Many reasons, but these are the main ones.
1. I don't care about the characters in some random hentai. It means nothing if they're just some nameless character. With ecchi anime, I grow to like certain characters as the series goes on, so seeing nudity is more impactful.
2. The budgets are far better than just some slideshow and animated gif scenes. If you want hentai, its better to just go read some doujin than waste time with a hentai video.
3. A well done ecchi show is also a lot more arousing then just some bad quality sex scene... for instance, the manga of To Love Ru Darkness pushes the boundries about as far as it can go without going 18+, and I've found it far better than most actual hentai mangas.
Eroges kinda do best of both worlds, anyway. They develop characters, make you care about them and you get the hentai. But hentai videos in general are just junk.
-edit-
I missed it first time, but...

Quite simply, I prefer 2D to 3D. What I like and my fetishes are far better portrayed in 2d then it would be in real life porn.

Porn's boring and trite, that's really the main reason I see for ever watching Ecchi works (which I sometimes do, albeit rarely, like We've Come to Play or Horizon). Ryan's right about the "I don't care about some characters in a random hentai" thing.
Also, straight-up porn is just...tasteless, in my opinion.

With most (but not all) hentai, it's all about the destination. With ecchi like TLD, it's about the journey and the characters. It's about having a story or some context there that makes the ecchi scenes meaningful, even if some people think it's contrived. In other words, it's more about the scenarios the characters get involved in, rather than outright sex. So like walw6pK4Alo said, it's really a different experience.. perhaps we can say in-universe experience vs just fapping material

This is difficult to answer because it's not always one thing for everyone, and it can even vary for the same person depending on the nature of the show they're watching.
In my case, when it comes to comedy, as much as I loathe borrowing a phrase from one of the few places on the Internet that manages to completely creep even me out, "Naked People are Funny." There's a certain lowbrow humor in the embarrassment of characters in various states of undress and those around them. Most importantly, it's about pushing the envelope. The more brazen, absurd, and gratuitous the fanservice gets, the more amusing the show is simply for its sheer audacity. If it's extremely offensive, then you get the additional amusement of watching people throw a fit over it.
In the case of eroticism, it's mostly a matter of titillation. There's a definite difference between watching Baywatch, compared to maybe, say, Debbie Does Dallas. I can't really go into all the necessary details because this is an all-ages forum, but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at. There's that, and as RyanSaotome pointed out, 2D is superior to 3D. How could anyone be attracted to a girl who can't even change their outfit and hairstyle by doing pirouettes half-naked in a shower of sparkles?

It's simple: Penthouse vs Playboy

Our univ has an annual pr0n movie festival at the campus theater. Fun! They'd probably want Baywatch to get it on though.
