Yeah, but that's pretty much what to expect with Japanese live-action (probobly a big reason they usually stick to anime on movies like this).

Actually Catwoman had a pretty cheap budget and was nowhere near a high budget film. I don't think we're spoiled at all, the technology and capability is there so there's no reason not to use it if it can be afforded. Sometimes advancements aren't just spoiling us but are simply that, advancements in technology.

Smiting is much too good for them. From the look of the trailer, this director has turned one of the most heart-rending anime ever made into a travesty. Sheesh, even Lolita Confinement Lesbians had more convincing schoolgirls (and no, I'm not going to give a link, you can find your own )

Why don't the Japanese spend more on their movies? I mean, it's not like they're hurting for money or anything. The special effects in this clip of Saikano look pretty bad, and the little bits of acting looked awful too. I was thinking "STELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAA!" when I saw Shuji screaming. And what was up with his hair? Did he change his name to Ponyboy?
I guess the only other live action movie I've seen based on an anime was Boogiepop and Others, and what little special effects that were in it were borderline high school haunted house. Do the Japanese just don't care about making things look good or what? I can't believe they don't have the technology or the money.

I also expect bad acting, and that's what I got, at least from the trailer.

you guys are being unfair about the CG
its not THAT bad.
the scene that the town blows up , and first shot of chise being ... ummm 'cybered?' , and the one that the building with the glasses blow up, they are quite good.
but yea, there are lame ones too.
