This is worth while just for the Project Eden film. Time to upgrade from your VHS tapes and your laserdiscs.

Flight 005 should have been a full film, maybe with some musical interludes and fanservice shots to also fluff out the running time. Glad these are all out in a set, but it would have been nice to know if this pack was of the remastered releases and how they compare to the old ADV releases.

Flight 005 wouldn't need padding to fill 80 minutes, unlike Project Eden. It's pretty densely plotted.

I'm one of the few who think that in terms of total package, Flight 005 is more up my alley than Project Eden. It plays like a conventional spy thriller, sure, but I like that sort of thing. Action, melodrama, wild plot twists...it's all there. One could argue that it's darker in tone that your typical Dirty Pair though.

Also, I believe Nozomi/Rightstuf said that these are basically the R2 remastered releases.

Yeah and someone posted screen comparisons of the ADV & Japanese DVDs of Affair Of Nolandia earlier this year so for those curious, take a look.

Hmm... If I recall correctly the remaster R2J video for Nolandia actually has several re-animated scenes. According to Japanese Wikipedia:

Quote:

Which roughly says that Sunrise redrew the animation before their video-disc/Laserdisc release (1986.5.21 on LD; Nolandia was first released on VHS in Dec 1985). Cel count stayed the same, and the bigger modification was on Yuri's face. Take a look. (Note the R2J DVD obviously doesn't come with subtitles, those have been added for these screenshots).

But some changes were made to fix drawing errors.

It is interesting to see that Sunrise did not redraw the end credits, so when the end credits of R2J starts you can see a drop in video quality.

If the Japanese Wikipedia is believable, does that mean that ADV used an ancient VHS master for their 2003 R1 DVD? Somebody did confirm that Streamline's VHS release was using the re-animated master (Just an extremely washed out version).

It looks to me that the R2J is substantially cropped when compared to the R1 editions.

I also prefer the R1 character designs, the R2J look more amateurish (to what I see with the examples provided)

The first TV sets from Nozomi came in box, whereas the OVAs came in a standard DVD case. What do the Theatrical come in?

Be nice

They come in a standard DVD case without any extra fancy packaging, so if you get this one, it's for the content and the DVD extras rather than the exterior product.
