Okay i'm just wondering what people's favourite themes were and why they are you favourites. Mine were:

Ashitaka Theme (Princess Mononoke) - I just loved this theme as it set the tone of the scenes it is featured in. It is just a masterful theme that I really enjoy everytime I hear it.

Dangerous Situation (Naruto) - This theme just set the tone for the battle scenes. Whenever they started playing this theme during the show it always gets me hyped up for the coming battle.

Decisive Battle (Neon Genesis Evangelion) - Pretty much the same reason as Dangerous Situation.

Also this is just a question to see if this particular thing is either a song or a theme. Ok in Bleach that song/theme they play in episode 10 when Don Kanonji is aiding Ichigo in the fight against that Hollow that music they play in the background, is it a song or theme and could you also tell me the name of the song/theme?

Could you please give your definition of "theme?" The example you gave,

is rather confusing. The Legend of Ashitaka Theme (Mononoke Hime OST track #33) did NOT appear in the movie. It's a revised and more complete version of The Legend of Ashitaka (track 1), the instrumental opening theme of the movie.

From what I can tell, the "themes" you were talking about are instrumental Incidental Music (IM) and Background Music (BGM). Refer the Lexicon for details.

Ahh I see now. Ok what I meant by theme is pretty much s non vocal song. So I guess it would be like you sad IM and BGM.

So you mean like a song that appears when a certain character appears or when the focus is on one character? Kind of like when in Legend of Dragoon Dart gives one of his speeches or when Meru first appears? (thats a video game by the way)

Favorite Theme(s)

Salva Nos From Noir (When ever the killin' starts) This really highlights the "elegant" style of assassination that the series highlights.

nowhere From Madlax due to the fact that it does add an element of mysticism to the already mysterious show, and adds to agian the elgence that the main character seems to display when in a "gun dance"

Finally, although it's not really a theme that is titled, the BGM from
Steel Angel Kurumi as it does its job to draw you into the show.

Hiyah!

-Soshite Hitotsu Ni... (D.N.Angel): Whenever I hear this song, I feel that all my sadness is washed away. Like a sunny moment after the storm and a soft breeze after a hurricane... That's how I feel this song (I should know; I'm a Music student Razz)

-Go! Tsubasa (Captain Tsubasa J): Both versions, the original and the ballad version are simply spectacular. The first one sounds whenever a great soccer moment happens (mostly when Tsu-kun is gonna make a goal), and the second one is for the syrupy, yet beautiful moments. I even wrote a lyric for that one (a fanlyric Wink)

-Last Dinosaur (FLCL): I have no words to describe this song, which appears complete in ep. 6, FuriKura. I simply love it.

-Butterfly (Digimon 01): I'm not talking about the full OP, but the softer, ballad-like version, 100% keyboard (it's not a piano... Too accurate tuning), and also the a cappella version when the kids are going to return to our world... Awesome!

Greetings!

BGMs and themes....hmmm...two of my favorites that come to mind now are:

-Aika (aka: "sad song") from Inuyasha: I'm not really sure how to describe this, but its a common "sad-sounding" theme used during quiet and reflective moments throughout the series. Its hard to describe, but is easily recognizable to anyone familiar with Inuyasha. The melody is quite calming and serene, but at the same time, sad and mellow.

-Misato's theme from Evangelion: I'm not sure what this is called, but its the happy tune that plays during scenes in Misato's apartment. It is usually heard when Misato is having a meal with Shinji, of course, surrounding with her beloved stacks of cheap beer. I always find it quite amusing to watch Misato's antics with Shinji when they are alone together. Especially when Misato is indulging herself with a beer...or three and treating Shinji to some "fan service." Ha. Catchy tune. Almost sounds retro (ala 50s-60s).

Oh, let's see...

.hack//SIGN - I like pretty much the entire OST, but especially the pieces with vocals, such as The World, Key of the Twilight, and In the Land of Twilight, Under the Moon

Final Fantasy: Unlimited - 一刀獣 because I just do, and because it's such a pretty and sad piano piece

Rurouni Kenshin - Kimi wa Dare o Mamotteiru, it just fits so perfectly with the series and story

Ghost in the Shell (movie) - Making of a Cyborg, I've just always like this song for some reason, the newer version in the second movie was good too, though I don't know what it was called

Saiyuki - ever since a friend sent me a mp3 of it back before I'd even seen the series, I always liked the tone and feel of Open Up Your Mind

Fullmetal Alchemist - Brothers is truly a beautiful piece, I liked it from the first time I heard it, and even more so once I learned what the lyrics meant, it's just so pretty and bittersweet and fits the series wonderfully

And oh, I bet I could go on, but I'll just stop there for now.

Hmm... i like catchy yuki kajiura songs.

like i have Song of Storm and Fire from Tsubasa stuck in my heard BGM music, but i've never seen tsubasa, but i like the orchetraic songs and the chanting and composition makes it sound upbeat

i like b.t. from .hack//sign, it's so pretty because i like the combination of the piano and violin. I think i prefer to listen to it by itself

I like sweet memories from .hack//liminality because it's fun to play on the flute! it's actually easy enough for my head to process!

oh! and i like Ame no Bus-tei/ Bus Stop's Rain by Tenmon from Hoshi no Koe/ Voices of a Distant star, I like how the compositions sounds like rain and the simple melody gives great feelings
