Glad to see Blue Sub No. 6 & Casshern Sins made the list.

Although they have ear-like ribbons instead of rabbit ears, when I think of bunny girls, I think of the Money girls in Narima Daikon Brothers.

In Nausicaa, the world is on it's way to un-apocalypse-ing itself. That's kind of the opposite of this list.
And I don't think I've ever seen anyone sum up the world of Appleseed so succinctly before.

Ergo Proxy
Maybe a little generic apocalypse at first, but that series really needs to be more known.

Except for the fact that Appleseed takes place after World War 4.

Honorable mention?! For the aptly named, "The End of Evangelion"?!
That's the Golden Globes of lists!
yikes.

Indeed. The world ends with a whimper (above ground) and a bang (below). There is much to contemplate there.

Agreed. I would've voted for Barnaby "Bunny" Brooks Jr., given the opportunity. |
I would've voted for him too(TIGER & BUNNY is one the few shows that lived up to its hype for me.) But for girls my fave is Charlotte Yeager(STRIKE WITCHES.)

Noein, Future Boy Conan (to replace Appleseed), Needless, Regios, Nausicaa, Gundam X, RahXephon, Sousei no Aquarion, Angel's Egg.
Though I will say that I agree with majority of the list, specifically:
Amnesia, Blue Submarine, Casshern, and Yamato, though not necessarily in terms of ranking.

Ya, it's too bad Noein and Nausicaa didn't make the list, but they both have the fatal flaw of recovering from the apocalypse in the end. I was pleasantly surprised to see A Wind Named Amnesia in the top spot! May not be the best apocalypse story, but certainly has one of the most interesting ways the apocalypse is brought on.

Gotta add another vote for "Blue Gender." While the "apocalypse-by-bugs" thing isn't original, the twist of how the bugs came to be on Earth caught me off guard and has stayed with me.

Wow, yes. It's been years, but I remember liking Blue Gender quite a bit!!!
On the other hand Casshern Sins is probably one of the worst anime I have seen in many years. Horrid from all angles.
