Are people actually looking forward to this even though it's basically worthless fan fiction? This just seems like a huge waste of money to me.

BONES was the original creator of Eureka 7... so how is the same animation studio continuing it fan fiction?

I am looking forward to it.

Lol Ok, firstly; BONES is the producer, Not the writers. Try using google, it's not to hard. But you can easily find out who's writing E7AO, and it's some no name spin off manga artist.

Who cares who's writing the plot/story/script for the anime.!? If the anime is good, then it's worth-watching. Although I am afraid that this sequel no matter what will always be overshadowed by the original show; people tend to compare the sequel to the original Eureka 7 anime which in my opinion is pretty good in concept and art/design, but the whiny protagonist, Renton, (he's such a cry-baby from the beginning to the end, I don't believe it, I would have think he would have grown up in later episodes of the anime) is kinda off-putting. But luckily, the superb music (OPs/EDs) and the plot, the whole experience of the show overall from beginning to the end make the original Eureka 7 a must-buy. And yeah, I like that other couple, Dominic x Anemone, way more than the protagonists Renton x Eureka.

Serious? lol. The idea of a spin off is it being based on something. The story by BONES is the original E7 (what it's based off of). That same wikipidea page says it's written by him.

I don't like the music. E7 had some techno tracks but the score was predominantly orchestra. It felt great and adventurous. This is just not the kind of music for Eureka Seven.

Anime looks cool though, but since it's obviously going to keep up a mystery it'll be hard to judge just how well it holds up to the original right away.

Nope I did not see that anywhere and on my anime list it is specified that Yūichi Katō is only drawing the manga and seeing how the Tomoki Kyoda the original creator and director of Eureka 7 is directing new one that removes all doubts that this is fanfiction

I'll give it a few episodes.

If it doesn't have the same charm as the original or decent writing, making it actually feel like a sequel, or the awesome soundtrack I loved from the original, I'll probably drop it.

Because, well, E7 didn't need a sequel.

Not to mention no Dai Sato and instead we get the person who wrote the movie instead.

And we all know how well that turned out. Rolling Eyes

Still a bit hesitant about the show but the art looked pretty good in that promo so feeling a little better about it now. Wonder if anyone will pick it up for simulcast...

The director (you know, the most important role) is the same. And many people helped write Eureka 7, as I am sure will be the same for AO.

The original was way, way too epic for there to ever be a realistic sequel worth making.

The spinoffs so far (manga, movie, games) have all been crap.

I can't imagine that it will actually take place after the original show.

That said, the promo does look pretty cool...

If it inherits even just the music and atmosphere of the original, it will have potential.

My biggest disappointment so far is the change in the music composer. Naoki Sato's music for the original series was fantastic, and I just do not understand why they could not bring him back for this new series.
