There is a nigh-endless list of quality Japanese comics that were they licensed and released in the States I would jump for joy (even as my wallet cried), but for the sake of succinctness, for now I'll only list a handful and leave the proverbial snowball to gather weight in others' posts.
(Please note that these "wish-lists" do not apply to series that have previously been licensed and either dropped mid-way or never released. That category should, I think, warrant its own discussion thread) Darker than Black: Shikkoku no Hana/Darker than Black: Jet-black Flower by Yuji Iwahara This one seems like a no-brainer at this point in time, what with the success of the titular anime (You may continue to take all my earnings, FUNi) and the other manga published by Yen Press. What I love about this iteration of DnB is two-fold: One, it's another work penned by Yuji Iwahara, whose best known by English readers for King of Thorn and Cat Paradise. I'm an immense fan of his heavy shaded, expressive, action-oriented style that's totally devoid of screentones and filled with impressive backgrounds. Second: Jet-black Flower is not a re-imagining of events already shown in the anime, but an interquel that links seasons 1 and 2 while providing a fascinating standalone story all its own. Baccano! (Light novels) by Ryohgo Narita and Enami Katsumi What can I say? The anime utterly shook the foundations of what I'd come to know as anime. It was different, multi-layered, fun and engaging, and left me begging for more. More of Ryohgo Narita's works need to be made available to the rest of the world. Hoshi Wa Utau/Twinkle Stars: Like Singing a Song by Natsuki Tayaka While it hasn't yet reshaped my worldview as Fruits Basket did, Twinkle Stars has gained a lovable cast and retains Takaya's patented flair for the all-too-human emotions that are oft. left too shallow in other series. Kuro Bara Alice/Alice of The Black Rose by Setona Mizushiro Anything by Mizushiro is steeped in emotional drama and more often than not, proved to be an excellent examination of the human condition and the nature of life and its many complexities and oddities. Alice is no exception. Add in the touches of surrealism and the grotesque, and this is a series I dearly want to own and gush about to others. Shaman King - Hana's Epoch/Shaman King - Flowers by Hiroyuki Takei The long-awaited sequel to the very first manga I came to own, even this early into its run Flowers has shown some great potential. New, great characters, a return of the beloved older ones, and the chance for a new story direction all make this a keeper. Spiral: Elaiv/Spiral: Alive by Kyo Shirodaira and Eita Mizuno A prequel to Spiral: The Bonds of Reasoning, Alive features many of the Blade Children and other cast, plus a few fascinating new ones. Same crazy detective mysteries, same deadly mind games, same fantastic ride. This one is a must for me as I've fallen so hard for the original manga. Shirodaira's works on the whole are a hidden gem in my eyes, so the more of his works that are brought over, the better. To Aru Majutsu no Index/A Certain Magical Index by Kazuma Kamachi and Chuuya Kogino It may not be perfect, but it's something unique, heartfelt and wildly interesting. I'm already a die-hard fan of the anime and A Certain Scientific Railgun's manga, so much in the way of Spiral and Alice, the more I can get of this author's titles, the better. Haru wo Daite Ita/Embracing Love by Youka Nitta Hands-down the best example I've found of a "porn with plot" manga, Haru is that rare adult manga that manages to feel both soap-opera-like and so true to real-world fears, hopes and aspirations it's at times unbelievable. I've no doubt the graphic sexual nature of the work will ensure it some controversy, but Be Beautiful Manga (an imprint of Central Park Media) already gave it a chance a few years back, so in my book any yaoi publisher worth their salt can come to see this series for the gem it is and bring it to stateside. And lastly... Usotsuki Mi-kun to Kowareta Ma-chan Totteoki no Uso/Lying Mii-kun and Broken Maa-chan: Precious Lies by Hitoma Iruma and Atsuki Satou A dark and twisted single volume, my greatest complaint for Precious Lies was I wanted more of it! The psychological examination of the lead characters - as well as their interactions - were the main appeal, but a close second was the bone-chilling mystery. Okay, first let me congratulate you on your maturity and understanding; it really restores my faith that people my age can act as something other than petty jerks. In order: Out of everything I wrote, I misspelled one word. Shocking. You'd almost think I was human or something. 
Thank you. I'm aware of who published Land of The Blindfolded. At the time of writing this thread I was also responding to a comment in another forum. I misplaced which information went where. That's since been corrected. I wasn't aware there was a preexisting "license wih thread." If it's possible for an admin or moderator to move this thread to the proper area, I would appreciate it. |

I don't think there is really an "official" one and the old thread with have is hard enough to track down that I don't see a problem starting a new one.
That said, I personally still want the same things I did last time, namely more of the manga by Yuu Watase and Ai Yazawa to get licensed. But there is one new title on my wish list, which is Princess Jellyfish. I love the anime but it's clear that the manga is on-going and so the anime doesn't have an actual ending. I'm hoping that maybe with the anime licensed we might see the manga come over as well, though I must admit I'm not holding my breath on that one (though I wouldn't have expected Princess Knight to get a release so I suppose you never know). |

Most of my licensing wish list has been thankfully answered by the manga publishers. I haven't followed scanlations in years, but series that were on my licensing wish list, back when I was (early to mid 2000s), were: Monster, 20th Century Boys, Berserk, Yotsuba&, Gantz, MPD Psycho, Twin Spica, Please Save My Earth, Blame, Eden - It's an Endless World, A Distant Neighborhood, Planetes... All of which are now available in US retail.
...Besides Yotsuba&, PSME, and Twin Spica, I imported Japanese volumes of the (then) entire series of each of those. I liked them *that* much. That leaves only a few titles: Angel Densetsu - The previous series by the author of Claymore. It starts as a one-joke manga with incredibly crude designs, but I loved the character development in this series, and scenes like the "Yakuza Fight" were awesome beyond words. Homunculus - Due to its content, I can't see this one ever getting a US release, but it's a fascinating psychological series. Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou - This is the big one. This has been by far my favorite manga since I first started reading it, and I followed it month-by-month for the final two years of its run. I can only hope that Kodansha USA someday decides to release this brilliant series. Position - It may not be as good as YKK, and sadly ignored by scanlators (besides one group that's years behind) but I still have a soft spot for this series. I don't own the Japanese volumes of Homunculus, but AD and YKK are still on my shelf today, and I've been buying volumes of Position as they come out. |

Sasamekikoto - Crunchyroll has the anime, which only adapts enough to whet the appetite(though it adapts it very well). The manga really starts getting good after that, including finally giving us a look into Ushio's mind.
Wife and Wife - A nice, feel-good manga that always gives me the warm fuzzies when I read it. Not many manga stick to an adult cast and still keep you saying "d'awww...." over and over. |

Magi- The Labyrinth of Magic: It's the first action shonen series in a good while to seriously interest me and not only does it have potential, but it surprisingly lives up to it to the point where I think it could become something in the realm of FMA whenever it gets an anime. But of course I'd like to see the manga come over first. Though it's a Shonen Sunday series and Viz hasn't been getting much of those lately...or any new shonen titles for that matter

Baki the Grappler, New Baki the Grappler, Baki: Son of Ogre, Fist of the North Star, Devilman, Getter Robo, Violence Jack, and Garouden. I'd also like to see Konjiki no Gash Bell and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! get relicensed/republished.

I totally agree on Fist of The North Star, and to be quite honest I would like to see everything from Comic Valkyrie published in English. I'm also still kind of bitter that Dark Horse never finished Seraphic Feather and no one has scanlated it. I guess I will have to buy the expensive French or Japanese editions to see how it ends. And I wish Dark Horse would publish more manga by Kenichi Sonoda.

Beck Id really like to have more than 8 volumes
Vinland saga because its awesome Deadman wonderland because i was enjoying it Louie the rune solder becuase i was enjoying that too hajime no ippo because its both awesome and hilarious oofuri because i liked the anime theres about as many things id like to see licence rescued as licenced propper. |
