Logical or not, it's wrong. Poor Jupiter-chan always gets her attack names screwed up in translation.

Reminds me of the whole Death Ribbon/Reborn Revolution thing.
Well, at least her attack isn't called Star Gentle Uterus.

Isn't this volume the original #4 and half of #5? If these are 150% volumes, Kodansha's #2 should have finished with the original #3.
As far as typos and other errors, it's been too long since I read Kodansha's vol. 3 for me to recall them. #4's on its way to me from TRSI now, and I've seen it in stores...

Yes, you're right. How did I miss that in all of my re-reading/editing? Sigh.
Ojamajo Lemon Pie, honestly, most releases of this series regardless of language have so many weird translations that this one very nearly looks like a "good" choice! I think I had a footnote in my thesis about how every translation of Sailor Moon changed the names at the very least. Kind of odd, really.

Think they'll ever get the special attack names right?

I had no idea Chibiusa was one of the least-liked characters in the series! Rini was always my favorite when I was growing up watching the show, so I was really excited to see her finally show up in the manga re-release.

No. it's probably on purpose to at least keep the names of the special attacks similar to the US anime release.

None of the attack names in Kodansha's release are like the dub. Except for one or two tweeks and the engrish with Sparkling Wide Pressure, they've pretty much been the same in Kondansha's release as the original:
Evil Spirit be Exorcised (Fireball Charge in the dub)
Venus Love Me Chain (Venus Love Chain encircle in the dub)
Supreme Thunder (Jubiter Thunderbolt crash in the dub)
Burning Mandala (Mars Celestial Fire)
Shin Aqua Allusion (forgot what it was, Mercury Something Something)
Moon Healing Escalation (Moon Healing Activation in the dub)
Moon Princes Hallation (Moon Scepter Elimination in the dub)
Rolling Heart Vibration (manga only)
Shine Snow Illusion (manga only)
etc.

I just bought volume 4 and it's been corrected to Sparkling Wide Pressure, its rightful name. William Flanagan really screwed up on that one. Anyone fluent in Japanese should know that simple of a mistake.

You aren't being a total dick about it at all, either.

I think it was "Mercury Bubble Blast."

I always liked her too, though more in the manga than the anime. But I remember people just hating her back in the day (wow, that makes me sound old...) and whole sites devoted to why she should die. I seem to remember one that had a video of melting a Rini doll in the microwave.

I'm one of those people who just don't like Rini. Only thing I like about her is her character design. The way she treats Serena(even after she learns she's her mother, and her "loving" her dad just gets under my skin along with other rude stuff with some other characters. Comes off as ungrateful and selfish in some situations.
If I was in a position to learn that she would be my future daughter, I would "skip" her if I could.

No, that was her old attack. If you're talking about what she said in the dub for Aqua Illusion, it was Mercury Ice Storm Blast. After a while, they just went with Shine Aqua Illusion like in Japanese.

Oh, yes, that's right. No wonder my youngest sister always beat me when we played "yell out random attacks until someone runs out." Although Mercury was always my least favorite of the Inner Senshi - I'm a Jupiter fan. I liked what they did with her in the live action TV series, though.

Actually she was popular.
Unfortunately, the only ones that liked Chibiusa in those days were the mind numbing, creepy lolicon otaku types.
though her popularity by that demograph was overtrumped when hotaru appeared in the S series, but they couldn't hold a candle to the popularity in those days by Sasami from the Tenchi series & Sakura from CCS which have now have been trumped by Nanoha & Fate for this era.
I may like lolicon fanservice as the other guy, but those guys took that to a whole creepy level. and EN SPADES!!!
True the were times she acted a lot maturer for her age , but there were times she's a spoiled as her mom.even worse at times. if you watch the beginning of the SuperS movie, you'll see what i mean.the only mature character on the super s at the time was Luna's future daughter diana, and she's a CAT.
Though I did liked her dark older self on R.Same with Mistress 9.
Aand I have a nasty feeling they might keep the english names instead for the future volumes. though i hope i'm wrong.
Also. Your right about the attack name for Merucury's move for the DIC english dub. Bubble blast was on season 1, Bubble freeze on R, Shine Aqua Illusion for S, and Aqua Rapsody for SuperS.
though dont be susprised that they will change the names to suit the american audience for future volumes.
