Hi all I am doing an assignment in school dealing with shakespear. The assignment asks for you to find evidence of where shakespear is everywhere. Like for example the lion king is like Hamlet because symbas uncle take his dads place as king after killing his father. bla bla bla. So anyway I wanted to releate it back to an Anime, so can someone please tell me an anime where a shakespear theme is used. Please limit it to only relating to Romeo and Juilet, Macbeth or Hamlet. Also could you mention what part of the anime it is in. thanks

Just a pointer, but you would definatly want to spell Shakespeare's name correctly.

Weazul-chan you're being a bit harsh. The guy or girl is just asking a simple question because he believes this will be a more accurate way of getting information.

I'm asking a valid question; if they are using this as an easy way out without trying anything else they don't deserve help. however, if they're using this to augment their own searchings they DO deserve help. the intent of homework is that you do your research yourself, not that you ask others to do it for you, and if you do ask others for help you should only ask when the sources you find on your own are limited or unclear.

He isn't asking for us to search for the info, he's asking if we know any anime at the moment that use shakespeare elements in their story. And plus you're assuming that he hasn't searched anything yet.

he hasn't given us any reason NOT to think that and there's something in the tone and presentation of his question that makes it seem somewhat likely they may have have done little to no research on their own.
I've seen people ask other people to do their homework for them on other places far too often so I'm a little wary about helping out until I know they've at least tried to do it on their own beforehand.

I have done searching on my own but for other types of examples, ie movies, sports, tv shows... but I want to do something different so I am using this (ANN Forum) as a reference to help in my reaserch. I need to come up with 3 examples and this one is going to be my original one that is different then everyone else in class... I am going to include a trailer and a summery for it. So thats why I am asking and all this arguing is not actully ansering the question although the reply number does look promising.

Well normally I can contribute but Im out of ideas I thought through out all the anime I've ever seen and not one comes to mind you can use. At first I though Dragon Ball z for hamlet since Prince vegata's father was killed by freeza. But freeza was in no relations to Vegata so that kind of ruled that out. But I'm sure there's an anime out there and so far DBZ ,sadly is the only thing that comes close in my mind(normally I hate DBZ). If you were doing your project like Victorian age that would of made my job easier in answering the question.
And weazul If you think he wants us to do his homework, who cares? If you don't like it don't answer it. The way I see it I like the idea of helping someone even if it's doing it for them, I do it all the time.

The movie "Windaria," heavily edited into English as "Once Upon a Time," has a very Romeo-and-Juliet-like pair of lovers that are on opposite sides of a war.

you could use nausica of the valley of the wind (don't think that's spelt right), with the two nations battling it out and the but nausica's nation is in the middle so not a perfect, then there's the murder of nausica's father (the king) and the betrayl of the tamekian generals to gain power, they even had a 'moving' forest (macbeth, the prophesy), nausica's return that liberated the people, not perfect transition but u could put something together, expand and probably get more points too.
Edit: spoiler tags

Gasaraki has a character who in several cases compares herself to Shakespeare characters (most notably Ophelia in volume 3) and that whole series has a King Lear like quality as all but the youngest son turns on the father.
Last Exile has a couple of Shakespherean themes, notably the murder of a monarch to remove him from power, an insane Prince who may or may not have been insane at the begining but is certainly insane by the the end, and a Romeo and Juliet style romance with some minor characters, though with a happy ending.
All the Best,
Nani?

well, seeing as The Lion King is blatantly ripped off of "Kimba the White Lion"... ~_^
