Has anyone heard about the status of the series, did it really get its second season?

We have no news about it linked on the series' Encyclopedia page. If nothing's mentioned there then nothing has been announced and no one in forums will know more. This is pretty universally true with us, as we are very good about promptly posting available official news about such developments.
EDIT: I am unlocking this thread because we have a rare instance here where a news item about a series slipped passed us as far as getting linked to our Encyclopedia posts. Another used pointed out to me that this item is relevant.
Again, though, I want to stress that this does not happen commonly; more than 99% of the time there's nothing known about more of a series coming out if we don't have a linked news article on it.

For anyone that doesn't know the second season of this series has been announced right after the last episode of the first season the second season should start in the spring anime season so around April is when the second season should start along with fate/zero part 2.

It's starting in Summer 2012 according to early anime charts and it's a two cour show for Summer.

I've lost all faith in ANN.
On a side note: how does ANN monitor all anime news outlets? Has Dan written a bot to scour all other major new sites in order to always be current?

I'm kinda curious about this too. Undoubtably they have people who can read Japanese to find news from the source, but they can't have people monitoring everything all the time.

It's not as difficult as it sounds. Almost all news sites have automatic social networking updates nowadays, so as long as you know what sites to watch, you can easily track articles as they're posted.

I recall that at the end of the last episode it mentioned that the next season would come out in the summer of 2012, not spring.
