Alright, I'm really amped about a new RT series. I'm just hoping that it stays true to the original.
Anybody else itching to see the new series? I'd like to hear you thoughts on this.

I can't wait, although I'm kind of bummed that The Sentinels series (both the comics and the excellent novels) seems to be somewhat retconned out of the big picture.

Technically, the original Robotech isn't even true to the original. They took three completely unrelated shows and rewrote them. If an American company did that today, fans would be in an uproar. And yet, Robotech is still somehow considered a classic.

I would say it's a classic because of the way they did that. And your probably right fans would be upset if they did it today but why people love robotech, myself included, is because of the unique way of putting 3 seperate shows togther. But would I like to see them do that to other anime? The answer would be no. I think after robotech that would be enough.

Ever consider the fact that it's from the 1980s? That may be why it's considered a classic. Anyway, that has nothing to do with the topic.
And I agree on what you said. What Macek did was amazing, but if it were done today (even if it were still unedited like RT) fans would cry bloody murder.
Plus, the sole reason Robotech was made was because of syndication standards. That's in the past. I mean, when's the last time you heard about an anime being syndicated?

I cant wait either and of course I hope it's good. I havn't read the books, novels, whatever I have only seen the series and love the Robotech Battlecry game. I have no idea what it'll be about and in my opinion when you dont know and watch a series, its all that more of a masterpiece. I went blind into Elfen Lied, I didn't even read the back of the dvd case, and it's been awesome.
What the hell is it going to be about? I hopee there are those transforming jet things. Are they called Veritek Fighters?

Joel: Yes dude they are called veritech's. You have watched Robotech haven't you?
As far as Carl Macek using Southern Cross and Mospeada in Robotech, lets face it those two series weren't going anywhere. Nobody in the States would have even heard of Southern Cross or Mospeada if it wasn't for Robotech.
I've heard the Shadow Chronicles is pretty much going to be continuation of The New Generation.

Shadow Chronicles looks like it's gonna be good. Wildstorm is putting out a comic of it in the next month or so and apparently there's gonna be a DVD release here soon, though I've heard conflicting things about when. Anyways, they gave a major rundown of what a lot of it is going to be about at this year's Sakura Con. The animation looks NICE. DR Movie and a few other well known studios are handling the animation side from what I can remember. I also saw some other Con footage (not sure what con it was) on Comcast On Demand. I think it was G4/Tech TV that had a couple of short promo's about it. I'm pretty psyched though. There's gonna be a lot of the original voice actors in the show like Greg Snegoff (played Scott Bernard in the New Generation), Dan Woren (played Roy Fokker in the Macross Saga) and Tony Oliver (played Rick Hunter in the Macross Saga). New cast members include Mark Hamill so far that I know. Tommy Yune (artist for the Speed Racer comic from Wildstorm as well as various Robotech properties and I think like marketing director for Harmony Gold) showed some animated storyboards, some preliminary CGI for the show and the commercial that they had animated for the U.N. at Sakura Con this year as well. I'm hoping the DVD release will be out this year at least. I'm not sure about anything else that they're planning to do with it besides putting it on TV. A theatrical release for the movie would be nice but, anime never does very well in theatres.

Well I think someone called the veritechs some other name once and said i was wrong when I called them that so that made me doubt myself but I guess now i know. I didn't realize i spelled it "Veritek" but I have been keeping up with the Yankee Red Sox series so I guess thats why i mispelled it.
I Kinda wish it was a continuation of The Macross Saga but then again New Generations wasnt that bad, well the game was bad but not the anime.

Let's not split hairs about the names of things. I've seen that get ugly on message boards... Technically, all of the variable mecha technology in Robotech is called Veritech. Macross showcased the Veritech Fighter, Southern Cross the Veritech Hovertank, and New Generation the Veritech Cyclone. A dubbing inconsistency in one of the Macross episodes had Gloval refer to the fighters are "Valkyries", which is technically correct because that's what they're called in Super Dimension Fortress Macross -- and that has led some to believe that's what they should be called in the American version. Both are pretty much acceptable, though, but technically the units are Veritech Fighters (full name).

Yea, I think those helicopter veritech's were called A.J.A.X. or A.J.A.C.?
I don't think Harmony Gold is going to be able to release RT this year though which sucks because they were really pushing for a 20th Anniversary. I've heard that New Line Cinema is going to be the distibutor which means we just might see a pilot or movie in theaters, but I wouldn't get my hopes up either. I think the main reason that it's been delayed so long is that HG been having problems negotiating a distribution deal. Hopefully we'll see some new RT early next year sometime.

Thats right thats what that guy called them "Valkyries". He made such a big deal about it too but I always thought they were called Veritechs because of what I had seen in Robotech Macross and Robotech Battlecry. Well alright Veritechs it is.
