I have come across something of a mystery, and I need people's help.

Here are two clips I "obtained" of Pretty Cure, dubbed into english:

http://66.111.59.101/PrettyCureEnglishClip1.avi
http://66.111.59.101/PrettyCureEnglishClip2.avi

These aired as promos for the German pretty cure version, preceded by some statement like "The german version isn't ready yet, so you'll have to make due with the english version".

They are VERY mysterious. The music has been changed, ala 4kids... but the names were kept.
Plus the new music is orchestral (and not too bad, either...), which is not very, um, american.

So anyone out there, where are they from? Who made them? Is it some one time deal (they are all from episode 1), or is someone out there dubbing Pretty Cure into english?

Are you sure it's not just some fandub parody? Neutral

It aired on German TV... you can tell because of the watermark and because of the german undertext during parts of clip1.

Not that I'm any judge of dubs (not my scene, at all), but...

That is one execrable dub. And the alternate music is sort of... off.

Great, we agree... Now the question is who do we send the angry letters to?

I don't even know which company made this, it seems that NO ONE does.

This isn't 4Kids, unless they decided to start improving dramatically.

With their dubs, they usually take every shortcut and cheaper alternative possible, even if it bites them in the ass later on. The acting is good in these clips, and the music is surprisingly decent, but more than that, it's orchestrated.

So no, probably another company...

Yes, it aired on the pokito block of programming on rtl2
Here's a link to the stations pretty cure is airing on in german, which is the same station where they played these english clips as promos:
http://www.rtl2.de/pokito/53.php

and if you want to, you can watch the entire first episode streaming dubbed in german... well, if you want to.

*Bump*

So, no one here knows anything about this dub at all?

I though the connections and power of ann might be able to find something out...
I'd go around calling people myself but, I don't really know where to start.

Cause I don't know German...

Think they'd speak english? Hmm, maybe...

Actually I think I have a lead... check out the news on http://www.sekiria.com/

this seems to prove it's an LA dub.

I'm leaning more and more to thinking it's a one time promo made by some LA studio at the request of Toei. The music must have been replaced because Toei never gave them the original tracks...
