I'm kinda surprised they're looking for people after Rita. I'd like to go, but I'm already in Cali, and I don't need to endure 20 more degrees of heat.

So what, they lay off a bunch of people and then start hiring? Why do the layoffs in the first place? That sort of thing does not a good reputation make...
|

Chances are they layed people off in a department unrelated to the one they are hiring for. You can't put a sound tech in accounting; well you could I guess, but you probably wouldn't like the result. They may downsize a department because it's no longer feasible to keep it at the size it's at, but that wouldn't mean other departments don't need people. Not to mention restructuring often involves layoffs and then rehires after things are properly assessed and in some cases layoffs can inspire people who still have their jobs to leave for other companies as they feel their jobs could be next causing extra loss in manpower.
