Though a live-action Kare Kano would be interesting especially if Hideaki Anno directed it. Shocked

fudge I'm a moron.

Embarassed indeed.

Like Chris Keck said, I got my Kano's mixed up. Yoko Kano, Kare Kano, Yui Kano, Saikano, Akira Kano, Reiko Okano, Yuta Nakano, it all get's blurry after a while. And that's not even counting the various Kanous and such.

Aww. Tempest canno' remember his Kanos. Laughing

I fear for the imminent cheese factor of the SFX, though. Hopefully, the movie's budget will allay my fears.

I wouldn't have minded either Live Action Kano, incidentally.

Sometimes, if the acting is good enough and the drama is good enough and the characterizations are good enough, the effects don't matter. For instance, I'm in the middle of watching a Chinese TV show called Xian Jian Qi Xia Zhuan, based on the famous (in China, anyway) RPG of the same title. It was made a few years ago and has absolutely horrid CG effects in it, but the story is so addictive and the characters are so appealing that I don't think about the FX much at all. I'm absolutely in love with it. (Hence my new avatar.)

I wouldn't mind a live-action Kare Kano either. Or a show dedicated to Yoko Kanno, for that matter. Wink

Ahem. You haven't played the game, have you?

Sadly, even the official website didn't mention pal, the original game which live-action adapted from. The original, albeit it's almost ten years old, is still very popular today (it's a DOS game!) and being discussed often at Bahamut.

Back to the topic: could you edit the subject of this thread so it's much less confusing, rond556?

Drat. I would rather have a live action KareKano than Saikano any day. D: Live action adaptions are fun.

I'm still trying to figure out why the US companies chose to go with nicknames instead of the real ones (or translations of the real ones) for these titles. It just creates confusion.

^^; I've actually played a little. I haven't gotten very far yet, though. Only as far as the part where Xiaoyao comes back from the fairy island. Ke's played it at least 10 times though, and he says it's a classic. (He loves the TV show, too.)

Anyway, my original point was to not worry about who will handle to SFX for Saikano, but worry about who will be able to write a film which is emotionally satisfying enough that the effects don't matter as much.

PS thanks for the link, dormcat!

I think the Japanese titles would be too long for most Americans to remember. At least a nicknamed title is muuuuuch better than a (badly) translated one, right?

Hm, I'd probably rather have a Kare Kano movie as well, but that's just me Laughing

Ah, more 3D CG I presume? Well, after seeing a bit of FF: Advent Children at anime club (I guess I was watching a fansub...?), I've become interested in 3D/live action 'anime'.

Oh it's Saikano? The characters look a little too old to play either parts. Although I think we all would really enjoy a Kare Kano live action series.
