I just realized something. If you listen to Tupac while reading manga, It makes the manga sound more mature. Try it. It works. Also, no matter what song it is, It's like the song flows with the manga. Everytime there is a fighting scene, you here f...,h...,skandolouz,thugs,ect.(you know how tupac songs go)
Can't See Me, Hail Mary, Only God Can Judge Me, Pictutre Me Rollin, They dont give a f..k about us ft outlawz, and Never b peace ft edikastro are the songs that work for me. What songs work for you when reading manga?

I posted this in the wrong place. Do you think you can change it.

I don't usually play music when I read manga, but one time, I intentionally put on a track from the Angelic Layer soundtrack, "A promise between Misaki and Hatoko" when I read the last chapter of Aishiteru ze Baby, since in Angelic Layer #25, spoiler[it's a track that plays when Misaki is reunited with her mother], and the last chapter of Ai Baby has pretty much the same thing spoiler[with Yuzuyu's mother finally coming home, and Yuzuyu leaving Kippei to go with her. ]

Alternative and Punk rock while reading Beck. You haven't read Beck until you've played Nirvana alongside it.

I can't read and listen to music at the same time, books or manga, because then my attention goes from the book to the music, then back and forth. It's especially problematic when the music has lyrics. So I perfer to read in silence, music just doesn't work for me.

Sometimes I listen to KODO whenever I read manga. Their music clears my mind of all distractions and is very soothing. I highly recommend their 1997 CD Ibuki and their compilation CD Tataku: The Best of KODO (1994-1999).

Lately, I've been reading Initial D while listening to this Scottish Bagpipes CD I recently bought at Wal-Mart. Trust me - it actually works. Very Happy

Well, that all depends on which type of manga. If I'm reading Bleach, any type of anime music or intrumental music will do. I'm not really picky on any of that. If it's something like Rurouni Kenshin that requires a lot of concentration (because I don't really understand some of the historical aspects), I don't listen to music. If happen to be reading a shoujo manga, intrumental is better, but if it's a manga with quick action, I go for something with a little more beat.

You have to have some music that fits the theme and mood of the manga you're reading. I tried listening to Pet Shop Boys while reading Blade of the Immortal once and it turned out rather weird, heh!

I prefer electronic music, it's usually without lyrics so it works nice as some kind of background. For Berserk I listen to harsh and dark stuff like Wumpscut, Funker Vogt, Suicide Commando etc. I shift between the most atmospheric soundscapes in the calm areas and switch over to the most violent and noisy tracks when Guts brings out his broadsword. It works great!

The Battle Royale movie used a lot of classical music so I tried the same with the manga (+ Boards of Canada).

Lately I've been listening to KMFDM while reading Negima. Unfortunately it was a little too heavy soundtrack for that manga.

I like Slayer when I'm reading Berserk
or some really intense classical music (Tchaikovsky generally works)

Also, the Carmina Burana can add many different feelings to a manga/scene, if you get the right movement of it.
