GONZO business producer Tetsurō Machida reported on Thursday that he and Burst Angel director Koichi Ohata went to a Denny's restaurant in the evening to discuss "2." Machida has since deleted his Twitter post. |
Are we sure they weren't just discussing about which of these to order? (Yeah, it's not in yen. )

Oh god...if a second season was announced, I'd be such a happy camper.

I'd be happy just getting a figure of Meg in the outfit she wore at the end of the first season.
Having a second season might make that more likely to happen.
Here's hoping for a second season!

I'd love a 2nd season as well, but it's already been a while since the first season, I don't see it happening, unfortunately. Still, the sequel ideas laid out in that short Ugetsu Hakua special on the Burst Angel DVD would've definitely been promising what-ifs if it had ever been greenlighted.

I've wanted a second season for a long time. Even another OVA would be nice. Just as long as i see my 2 faves Sei and Jo.

I didn't think very highly of Burst Angel, but I didn't loathe it either. If there were a better-plotted second series of it wherein Meg was competent and not in nigh perpetual need of rescue, it could be an entertaining show. A damsel-in-distress who is always saved by another woman was novel, especially because Jo was a refreshing character in some ways, but the sexism of it is only part of why the perennial damsel-in-distress is an annoying, tedious character archetype.
Still, it would be strange to resurrect Burst Angel this long after the original. On the other hand, I believe it was fairly popular in its day, and GONZO might be trying to play it safe by revisiting past successes, as it has attempted with Last Exile: Fam the Silver Wing. I haven't watched it or paid it much attention, so I don't know whether it has been a creative or commercial success.
At least he wasn't going to talk about, "3." I'm pretty sure that would lead to John O'Donnell leading the four horseman of the apocalypse to bring about the end of the world. Although that would be just the sort of thing to discuss at a freakin' Denny's.

What about Saki 2?! (not the spin-off, but an actual sequel. Nationals!)

More Saki in any form would be lovely. There was so much promise in that story, I'd love to watch more wtf!mahjong.
But on topic, I'd really enjoy seeing more stories about the ladies in Burst Angel. It really felt like just the beginning of a bigger story.

I know these are really old posts, but yeah that teaser of Meg finally ready to kick ass (and finally hold her own) in that new red outfit was so awesome, I'd be totally up for it if they finally made that sequel series.
And ofcourse Sei who was probably my favorite.
