Restoring the original series frame by frame must have been an insane amount of work, even keeping all of the original grain for whatever reason. I'm shocked that they didn't quit after episode 1.

had no intention of buying these as i have no nostalgic love for DBZ and the orange bricks ,cut to 16:9 and everything, are good enough for me.
Still shocked to see this though as Funimation continue to seemingly shoot themselves in the foot over and over again recently. Fans will not be pleased. Seems Sentai might well be the new market leader by the end of 2012/early 2013 should this court case go their way. |

As I mentioned in the previous thread, they probably had no idea how much of a pain it would be and how much time it would take to remaster a series, frame by frame, manually for 291 episodes. Just as well, I felt the Dragon Boxes were a better investment.
-16 to 17 episodes per set -Sets were likely to hit 17 volumes -No Japanese title cards -Wrong opening animation -No next episode previews Those alone are what kept me from jumping on them. |

Its a good thing i didn't bother buying this though i do feel bad for the people who decided to buy this over the dragon boxes. Maybe now funi can focus on getting the dragon ball and the dragon ball movies dragonboxes. I could care less about GT though.

Code for: Not enough sales to commit to a expensive process that uses resources (people's time) that can be used for other projects. It is a tad sad though. Though they probably knew that it was going to be a major project, it looks like Funi underestimated the amount of work that would be involved. I wonder how well the BDs were selling.

Doing it frame by frame is a lot of money that no regular fan will buy. What's the point of releasing something if they can't even cover the cost of the restoration? |

Good. Like we really needed another Dragon Ball release. Put more effort into stuff you haven't released yet Funi, you know like Railgun, Index and Shana season 2 & OVA's.

Somehow I'm not surprised.
Dragon Ball Z was released way too much times, so I think nobody needs these BD-sets. If somebody is really interested in the show, he or she should buy the Kai-Boxsets. |

What do you think is paying for the other Funimation licenses? DBZ. So shut your pieholes and thank Goku for your Princess Jellyfish. |

A good idea. Why would anyone buy these upscales of SD anime on BD?

Well that was obviously thought through poorly. Aren't you meant to like plan workloads and budget such things in advance for such a huge undertaking.
