This looks interesting! I remember the game fondly from my childhood. That said, I'll wait for the complete series edition down the line. I've been burned enought times by Udon's inconsistent/partial releases of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers.

It's not like they have much of a choice.

Udon has to go through approval stages with Capcom before they may be permitted to publish anything based on their titles. And this can take weeks to months, waiting to hear back from Capcom.

If I'm not mistaken, Udon bowed out of the monthly comics market quite some time ago and will now publish only original graphic novels and art books.

You misunderstood what I meant, maybe because I didn't explain myself properly. I used to buy the Darkstalkers comics when it began serialization. I collected the small 15(?) pages comic books that Udon published. But Udon stopped the series in the middle, only to later troll a "complete edition" which isn't even out yet. They did something similiar to Street Fighter. Udon released the first few issues of the comics, then decided to stop and create the side-story Sakura comics and the side-story Chun-Li scomics. Only after those two did Udon continue to publish the main Street Fighter comics, but I could never get my hands on the last books (if they even exist). I bought the manga-sized complete editions of that as well, but I feel cheated for buying the original U.S. comic sized releases. I hope they release this as a manga tankoubon instead of the old U.S. format.

Heyo,

Matt Moylan here from UDON. I think you've been misinformed. Our Street Fighter and Darkstalkers comics have always been released in the order:

1. Monthly pamphlet comics
2. manga sized TPB collections (collecting 4-6 issues)
3. Oversized "Ultimate" collections (collecting 2-3 TPBs)

All the issues in the trade paperbacks and ultimate collections were previously released as comic books, so no one was "cheated" if they were buying the individual comics. If you're missing any specific issues, head over to udonstore.com to see if we still have them in stock.

It's pretty standard at ANY comic company to collect all the comics in one book once a certain number of issues are complete. Japan does the same thing, collecting their weekly manga stories from magazines into tankobons. We have recently moved on to producing original graphic novels for our street fighter stories, but that is all-new material.

Also side stories such as SF Legends: Sakura and SF Legends: Chun-li ran concurrently with the main series. Different teams worked on both series, so one did not affect production of the other.

Hope that clears things up for you!
