I don't care if you teach me how to dance, I still hate your show.

Have you seen it in motion? There is zero rhythm to that "dance". It's a bunch of jerky, twisty motions that has music in the background. I mean, at least Hare Hare Yukai and the Lucky Star-thing have rhythmic motions. Besides, the last thing I want to see are people serra da bunding the air.
Although, seeing people fall on their butts trying to do the bridge would be amusing.

Or the splits and jumps and hand-stands and all the calisthenics, without a heart-attack.

While the dance is bizarre and herky, jerky, it is in the beat of the song. If the dance was off beat it would look even more bizarre.
But, yea, I agree with Red Fox of Fire that I will not be surprised seeing people do this at cons (I skipped to the end to watch the ED since the first episode bored me due to length. 24 minutes is way to long for a show like this).

The picture of the dance is what's under the jacket of the first volume of the manga.

Doesn´t the article seem a little inaccurate? As far as I know this chart was in the first volume of the manga, and that was released in 2008. The article makes it sound like they released the chart after the anime.
Now I shall wait for people whining about me whining.

Pretty much. What a bundle of non-laughs that first episode was
