I'm so confused about a few things in this episode. Other than that, I thought it was kind of funny in a dark way, of course.

Here's my questions:

1. spoiler[Why was the 12 year old girl wanting to die?]

2. spoiler[Was that really Lil Slugger at the mountain lodge? I'm guessing not, so who was it?]

3. spoiler[Will we find out who was the victim at the mountain lodge?]

4. What was up with the very end of the episode? Specifically, spoiler[what was the significance of the condom machine, if any?]

5. spoiler[If the old man was taking medication to keep himself alive (heart medicine, perhaps), why bother with an elaborate death? Couldn't he just stop taking his meds and die naturally?]

6. spoiler[Why were those people freaked out when they saw the picture they took on the digital camera? What did it have to do with the three main characters in the episode?]

I'm sure there are other questions to be had, but I'll stop there.

1. It doesn't say so I would guess because of family problems at home.

2.No i'm fairly sure that was the real slugger.

4. I'm guessing the end machine was saying something along the lines of don't have a family if your not going to be responsible enought to care for it.

6. Have you ever seen the 6th Sense? Smile

I've never seen The Sixth Sense. The only Shyamalan movie I saw was Signs, and that sucked.

Well seen as though you've never seen the movie spoiler[The three people are already dead. Notice they see the guy after he jumped in front of the train walk away like it was nothing. The old man also notices they have no shadow while everyone else does. The man also has another last pill even after he used the last one in the beginning of the episode. Obviously in the end picture seen as thought the girls couldn't see them as they are dead its possible their ghost showed up in the picture.]

I think Iscariot nailed the main points.

spoiler[Also, the two girls walking by the bath thought they heard something but continued to move on. Lastly, and somehwat oddly, lil' Slugger was afraid of them. Something that brings death/relief afraid of the dead . . . I think that might be important later on.

But, the condom thing is still a little odd to me.]

Episode 8 of PA (in my humble opinion) was one of the best filler episodes I have ever seen.

x2.

I also agree that there might just be something key in this filler in relation to Slugger. Otherwise, definitely a good break from the main protagonists. Smile

The condom machine, much like similar devices used in all of the other episodes of PA, was simply to reveal the title of that episode, "Happy Family Planning." (Clever, right?) The episode titles for all of the episodes appear in a piece of background art. This one, spoiler[as well as the next episode, Etc,] just appears at the end. Most of your other questions have been covered by everyone else.
As for your 1st and 5th question, spoiler[I think all three of these people were just attracted to the idea of suicide, not death itself. (Which is apparent in the old man's shock and horror when he comes to his realization at the end of the episode.) Maybe their lives had reached a kind of boredom that they felt could only be shaken with attempting to do that which is the means for the ultimate end. And I also think that the suicidal attempts held more interest for them than actual success. They may never actually have been serious about dying in the first place, but just wanted the fun of trying over and over. After all, what brings more spice to your life than the constant threat of its untimely demise?]

I agree with msi435 that this is one of the best filler episodes (if it can even be categorized as that) ever, and this, along with the next two episodes coming up, are my favorites in the series! I LOVE spoiler[the Maromi anime!]

So, spoiler[how did they die?Was it during the episode or were they already dead when they met?]

Last night I caught Episode 8 on Adult Swim. I found it disturbing that people would go about planning their suicides as if they were talking about going to see a movie or an amusement park. That's just where my sensibilities are.

More annoying to me was that this was a filler episode. Even the appearance of Little Slugger near the end of the episode seemed too far-fetched and contrived. Besides, why would Little Slugger be so far from his region?

Most annoying of all to me was the voice of Kamome. Is there a character voiced by Dorothy Fahn who sounds more adult?

The Sixth Sense angle noted earlier by Iscariot makes sense, and I didn't notice it last night. It seems to answer lots of questions.

One thing I noticed was the background music. It took me a few minutes to realize that the 3 characters were fixated on killing themselves. Even after that, though, the music seemed to be of the amusement park variety-- totally opposite the death theme personified by the 3 characters.

spoiler[They probably died in the building when they were inhaling the smoke, another is possibly when the construction crew destroyed the building they were in, or maybe they were dead they whole time and thats the whole reason they are so attracted to suicide.]

spoiler[yeah that's when they died. notice how the birds started following them right after they left the building.]

on another note, i was reading some articles, and i'm shocked at just how common this is in Japan. i mean they have literally vans full of people that go up to the mountains and do this stuff.

Is it possibler the depiction of Lil' Slugger in this episode spoiler[could have been Fox - who I think was revealed as the Lil' Slugger imposter]

In any case, spoiler[Fox provides a "link" with the trio (all the other protagonists have been connected somehow)]

Due to what happened in the last episode, you could be right wrongcloud. But if it was him, why did he run away from them? Also, if that was the real Lil' Slugger, who was he attacking?
spoiler[From the behind view of the guy being attacked, it looked like it was the older detective but that's just my theory.]

I put it in the spoiler highlight cause I'm not sure if it's true or not. If anyone knows who it could be, help would be appreciated. That is of course if that Lil' Slugger was the real one.
