Aaaah, I really wish this were coming on the tails of a proper release of JoJo part 4... in my dreams maybe... but I'm still delighted to have the Rohan Louvre manga in English! I already bought the French edition right when it came out, and read it a ton even though my French isn't perfect; this is my favorite of the Rohan spinoffs by far, and I want to have it on my shelf again, particularly if I can now loan it out to people who can't read French or Japanese!

JoJo has been screwed over so many times in the US that seeing it get a proper release for once.... I'm sobbing with joy. There were hints two years ago that we'd get this in English in 2012 but with the luck JoJo's had in English, I was half expecting to have it be printed by a back-alley publisher using xeroxes and wite-out to paste on Comic Sans typeface translations. This looks BEAUTIFUL.

A li'l pricey-I'm still waiting for Right Stuff to update a lot of manga schedules for comparison's sake-but I'll give it a whirl.

Nice that they finally released the date! Their website is a bit odd to navigate through but they did mention in a post much earlier this year that they were planning to translate Rohan after finishing a couple of the other Louvre comic titles.

I definitely look forward to reading it, especially being able to see Part 4 characters in the SBR art style. Plus an Araki title in english is always a good thing.

This reminds me, did ya know the Louvre:

... has teamed up with Nintendo to hand out 3D game consoles to guide visitors through its vast art collections, as part of a stepped up digital drive at the Paris museum.

Starting in March, the world’s most visited museum will gradually replace its traditional audio-guides—used by just four percent of its 8.5 million annual visitors—with 3DS pocket consoles.

“We are the first museum in the world to do this,” Agnes Alfandari, museum’s head of multimedia told AFP.

So next time ya visit, bring your games. Laughing

Well considering it's full-color, hardcover, and a large trim size, the price is adequate. I saw the Japanese version at Kinokuniya and it's lovely. Can't wait to get this. Preordered it a few months ago on Amazon. It's nice to see some modern Araki(...or any) come out over here.

This brings me hope for further releases...

More unlikely things have been happening lately, like Katawa Shoujo being released.

Echoing this as loudly as I can.

I own the French edition (since oddly enough, that came out before the Japanese...) and if it's anything like that... it's quite long, every page is in color (and despite what some people would think when seeing "Hirohiko Araki", it's actually absolutely beautiful work in gouache and/or watercolor full of subtle shading to fit the mood, rather than an absolute explosion of candy-bright clashing colors), and the story is actually worth reading a few times rather than just ham-handed Louvre advertising. I would gladly pay even $50 for a long color Araki work in my native language, let alone less than $15.

Besides, if you're a fan of part 4, there's some cameos that will make you VERY happy in this one...

(DISCLAIMER: I am one of the biggest JoJo fans I have ever met, and approximately 80% of my anime and manga related spending goes to JoJo merchandise. I consider this the most absolutely no-brainer purchase of 2012 unless we magically get an English license for Diamond is Unbreakable, Steel Ball Run or JoJolion. But my brain runs 100% on oraoraora so my opinion is not universal.)

I know, I was like, "Too much?" I paid about $50 for the Japanese hardcover of JoJo6251 and I can't even read the darn thing. I was amazed at how cheap this English release ended up being-- my preorder via Amazon was under $14 per book (I had to get 2 though, one for me and one to give my Rohan-fangirl friend as what in April will be a very belated December birthday gift).
