It shows that they're willing to pay 500 yen more for a BD/DVD combo pack instead of waiting over a month for the DVD only release.

Comparing DVD+BD Combo Packs to BD sales is silly, the DVD will throw it off since that's where most of the sales come from when the DVD is purposely delayed. (Not to mention only a fraction of the cost)

I'm not only talking about the BD+DVD pack (although even if it's just a fraction of those buy it for the BD and not DVD, that's still a lot since the original # is high). Mainstream Japanese don't usually buy just BDs, but even the Cars BDs have sales surpassing a lot of anime. That signals a shift in J-mainstream are buying more BDs.

It'd be nice if anime releases offer these kinds of BD+DVD packs too.

With Horizon and Fate/Zero both BD-only, I think it's more likely for DVD to be phased out altogether for late-night TV anime releases.

There was an article awhile ago that pretty much said they were abandoning DVD in the the otaku market.

Maybe at least for more mainstream anime movies like Detective Conan.

Has there been any word on what going IS <Infinite>? Looks like the OVA selling well, but is popular enough with the Otaku crowd to make a 2nd season? The series was criminally too short, even with the fan-service OVA one-off.
