what?

As far as I know, we've seen naked a female robot (no nipples) and a naked female statue.

I'm doublechecking a couple episodes, but I think there was an episode where one of the female Characters has a VERY skintight costume/outfit and you can see erect nipples.

Well the difference b/t AS and Comedy Central is AS is shown on Cartoon Network-a station that is still largely geared towards children. So it's not hard at all for a kid to be up and see some blood or toplessness or something. I think that's why they continue to edit somewhat.

They have started to show some TV-MA rated shows... although those shows probably wouldn't be MA if on another network.

As far as Nielson ratings, the block is considered a different network than CN. Though that doesn't mean it applies outside of ratings or that the network is treating it completely seperate. Other more adult Turner stations make similar cuts to shows and movies anyway. Smile

That doesnt change the fact Kids would automatically be drawn to it because of the station it's on. There's still another problem that has plagued anime since it first came over here-It's animated. There are many people and children that think because it's animated, it's for a young audience.

FCC doesnt give the ratings to AS's shows... AS gives their shows the ratings.

I guess the "bullshit" was a goof, since they censored it later on. And did anyone notice that when the little kids are looking at the porn, the scene seems to cut off before the whole picture loads? was that how it was in the original? because someone told me that the picture originally loaded all the way... No that it really matters, just curious....

[Adult Swim] has aired a TV-MA rated show, it was on Sunday. I can't remember what show it was (didn't watch it) though, but if they can do it with an American cartoon, they should be able to do it for anime. I'm really glad that they're not doing too many edits like back in the old days. We're making progress here.

The TV-MA you're referring to was an episode of Venture Bros., which oddly enough had a TV-14 when it originally aired. A TV-MA was also slapped on American Dad (and it appeared randomly throughout the 30min), but I think this was an error.

I have to wonder if there any major content differences between the Adult Swim and Fox network airings of American Dad.

If Family Guy didn't get renewed would American Dad be an Adult Swim exclusive?

And I think they do occasionly renew the content ratings of shows on subsequent airings because I have occasionly seen new stuff inserted on say SpikeTV's Stripperla.

I think "Jungle Cruise" (Stand Alone Complex) was probably the first solid TV-MA(VSL) rating they applied to anything, and for good reason. But, before airing the episode, they did put two disclaimers in there warning that it would not be for anyone "below the age of 16".

Since then, I really haven't seen other shows or episodes that have been getting special warnings.

So, perhaps [as] really is going to start biting the bullet more and more. (After all, if parents complain, they could just as simply say "what's the first word in our name here?" Wink )

Back on topic, I think a show like Paranoia Agent is really good for convincing people that animation really isn't a "kiddie" thing anymore. I, too, hope that [as] continues it's trend to keep these episodes mostly unedited. Smile

Actually, it was on TV-14 DLV, I believe. So far, they've only applied TV-MA ratings to the comedy shows, and it would seem somewhat haphazardly at that.
