DC just doesnt get it, I think their manga division will be tanking next year. No one is buying their manga. I don't think anybody will be buying it if they think selling edited manga is better, for their own self image!

The sad part about this though is that nobody is going to buy the manga because of the edits. The company will *assume* its because the title isnt good and stop publishing. However they wont release the license and it will just sit. Hence there wont be any english translation for said manga.
/sigh Corporate america sucks sometimes.

I remember coming across a phrase to the effect of "please the 5% hardcore fans, and the rest will follow". I think they've managed to anger the hardcore fans, so this could very easily backfire quite badly for them.

Is it possible that CMX continues to edit Tenjho Tenge because it's actually selling well?
Before everyone starts screaming at me, I'm against the edits myself but I was just curious if this can be the case?

I have no idea how it's selling, I work at Suncoast and get a lot of manga buyers in including myself. And I've always made sure to tell people to avoid CMX and have let my friend, who's manager at the Waldenbooks downstairs spread the word. heh doubt it'll make a huge impact or anything but still, every little bit counts. I've never sold a CMX title heh
They're morons to not listen to the fans, Delray listened to the fans and their stuff is selling well

I, for one, am happy. If I didn't know better, I'd say that the Japanese animation and manga industry is running out of ideas if every new release has to be carried, not by a story, but by a half naked nubile young woman for it to sell. How boring.

I still find it a bit odd how people are up in arms about boycotting CMX entirely -- when this is the only title, from the sound of things, that's being edited at all, let alone to this extent.
The edits aren't changing my interest level in Tenjo Tenge at all (it's still nonexistant), and as long as Land of the Blindfolded isn't getting chopped up I see no reason to stop buying that title. I DO think it was foolish to take a mature-audiences manga and try to make it teen. Yet they didn't do that with Madara. And you don't hear about their other titles being cut up either.
So just import your TenTen. And why not actually use some positive feedback to try and change things, such as supporting the releases they've gotten right by buying them? Of course, this is assuming you're like me and have interest in their other titles...

While I am interested in some of their other titles, the problem lies in that they have been unresponsive to the complaints - if they are going to treat their customer base like crap - then I'm of the opinion that they don't deserve any of my business. I'm boycotting CMX mostly because of this. The fact that they'd make a decision to censor a title that is clearly adult in nature baffles and irritates me - but their stonewalling made me angry enough not to deal with them in any way.

Now THAT'S a possibility.
Those who buy it don't give a damn about what's been edited out as long as what remains is entertaining.
