Okay, time out. What ever makes you think that they would stray that far from the path carved out by CPM?

No, if they want to give the show a total face-lift and then re-sell it, that's a different story. There are probably a crudload of people who wouldn't mind buying a remastered edition of the show that made RPG-style anime cool even when it wasn't done by CLAMP.

You know, it's really weird how many US cast members from Slayers are now major voice actors for 4Kids shows.

Besides Lisa Ortiz and Eric Stuart who else from the eng cast of Slayers works for 4Kids now?

I was at the FUNimation panel at ACen, & I was also the one who asked them about casting. I even specifically mentioned Lisa Ortiz (my fav dub VA). What they said was it wont be an entirely new dub cast, & they want Lisa Ortiz to come in & try out some lines for Lina. They said they think she could pull off the role better this time around now that she's more familiar with the character & such.

Other ACen notes of interest: I asked a FUNi rep about the FMA movie, & he said while they haven't aquired it yet, it's almost a sure thing to happen. He hadn't heard anything about the Reflections Special though.

Steve Blum announced he was cast in Naruto (he didn't know what role), so that confirms that it wont have an Ocean Group dub cast. Mr. Blum announced this right after Vic Mignogna wimpered to the croud (upon being asked what anime he wanted to do): "I want to be in Naruto." Razz Speaking of Steve Blum, when asked if he was Dave Lucas he said that they were not the same person. He sounded serious too, but I don't know what to think of that.

Vic showed for the first time his "FullMetal Fantasy" fan video, which he created, wrote, directed, edited, & of course starred in. It was very good & a real treat for fans of the FMA dub. It involved a FMA fanboy (Vic) transforming into Edward Elric (clothes, hairdo, automail) & starts seeing other characters from the show all around him (some played by the actual voice actors, such as Winry's & Envy's). Very well done & a really nice dramatic scene at the end where "Ed" & Al face off against villians from the show. Finally accepting his role as Ed, he throws off his jacket & performs a transmutation (not sure if it'll actually work) in order to protect himself & Al.

It's REALLY good, but Vic says that he can't sell a promotional work such as this. He said it can only be seen by those who attend Cons he goes to. Vic also said that maybe in about a year he'll put it online for download. But no sooner. He did say he's making another video that he will put online. This one starring action figures of Ed & Mustang, & Ed tricks Mustang into doing a bunch of stupid things. Vic says he & the VA for Mustang argue just like their characters over whose better. Vic says he likes to call Mustang the "Mitten Alchemist" because "you take away his gloves and he's powerless!"

I'm so glad you asked. Since I try and use the site to back my claims up (a good rule of thumb for all users), let me run down the list and give you everyone from the Slayers cast that is or has been on the 4Kids payroll.

-Lisa Ortiz
-Eric Stuart
-Carter Cathcart (as recent staff only)
-David Moo (One Piece)
-Jeremy Zoppi
-Rachel Lillis
-Roger Kay (recent minimal roles)
-Stan Hart
-Ted Lewis
-Veronica Taylor

And that's just Series 1. There probably is some logical explanation for all this, and maybe even more than one. Or maybe the 4Kids brass just liked the show. Laughing

David Moo, Jimmy Zoppi, Rachael Lillis, Stan Hart, Ted Lewis, Veronica Taylor, Ed Paul, Frank Frankson, Scottie Ray, and Tara Jayne (and that doesn't include some actors that only did small bit parts).

I personally don't like the FMA dub. In fact it kind of bothers me. I guess I'm used to the Japanese version. At least in the Japanese version the voices seemed to match their ages. Here we get college-Ed and baby-Al. oh whatever  . Im in the wrong thread anyway. Theres my late-night bit of randomness...

You...DO realise that the Fullmetal Alchemist dub has absolutely nothing to do with Slayers, right?

The FMA dub was mentioned in several posts earlier in the thread since FUNimation will be doing some redubbing for the new Slayers releases. yoh's post was referring to those.

4Kids dubs and Slayers are done at the same studio so I'm sure that has something to do with it

Dude, the original FMA posts aren';t relevant to the thread and have been taken to task. It doesn't belong here.

Not really, since FUNimation doesn't have anything to do with 4Kids in a dubbing capacity really, and neither 4Kids or FUNimation were involved in the original license for slayers.

I assume he's referring to the fact that the studio CPM used for their dub is the same one 4Kids use for several shows.

What would be awesome is if FUNi decided to give airing rights to Adult Swim. Maybe put it in there between Inuyasha and Full Metal Alchemist since those two shows have some simialarites with Slayers. That way, you can have an hour and a half of fantasy anime filled with demons, chimeras and homunculli.

I hope this might also raise some awareness about the series again and we'll get the latter half of the novels animated.

Does this mean the CPM Slayers will no longer be seen on the Anime Network? They're only 10 episodes in on the VOD.
