Figutto's have better sculpts than figmas sure, but they also have that weird look to them that just about every other Griffon Touhou product has. Mainly on the face.

But hey, this one is still in print and won't cost you a few organs.

I pre-ordred this figure over two years ago. Its release kept getting delayed and I was tempted to look into canceling her, but amiami has a strict policy against that. I wanted her to act as a "model" on a trip I was taking and the trip has long since gone. (Emperor Pilaf and Shu ended up taking her place.)

I don't know too much about Touhou Project, so I can't comment on how faithful she is to the game version, but I agree that the ruffles and frills are adorable. I also love the magnetic face and hat. I would love to see all figure companies follow suit. I get really nervous swapping out faces on some of my other figures, like Figuarts. It feels like something will break.

Speaking of breaking, I also have had a huge issue with her arms and legs popping out. They're easy to snap back in, but it sure makes me wary. Another flaw is that her legs have limited mobility because of the dress. I don't know how Figutto could have gotten around that issue though. But between the limited movement and the way her legs keep snapping off, she isn't a fun doll to pose. The stand is crap too.

Marisa was a fun Halloween decoration and I do like the details in her uniform. She wasn't worth the two year wait, but she doesn't belong in my "hall of regrets" either.

It'll probably come as a surprise to some, but I don't own a single Touhou figure. It's not that I dislike them, but it's strange to see so many figures from this... and some are definitely better than others.

I'm glad David took the time to focus on the style, because I've also noticed many liberties taken between manufactured lines. One thing's for sure: if I do delve into the Touhou line, it's going to be strictly scaled.

I laughed at the comment about waiting for a sale for GSC's acsta line. I suppose we can give them kudos for being the first company to merge together a scaled figure and posing. The only figures out currently are Fate and Nanoha, which are so common, they're boring.

Now, GSC is rumored to be coming out with a "Real Action Heroes" line starting off with Black Rock Shooter. Based on the images, it looks identical to its acsta line in that it's a scaled figure with posing joints.

Should there be a sale, get this one if it's possible please.

Reviewed or not, it's going into my collection once pre-orders are announced. Rarely does something like this not turn production.

I enjoy Touhou. I've only played EotSD, but the second I beat it I will play the rest (I'm so close to finishing it! On normal of course) :3 I do have to say though, ZUN certainly cannot draw himself.

Those joints really do stick out. When I start getting figures I'm pretty sure I will just go for Nendoroids when I want something posable, and otherwise just a straight sculpt that can't pose but looks good.

David,
RACS is currently having a sale on figures and the GSC Fate acsta figure is $85. An additional 10% off can be taken using the coupon. Shipping will be free. TODAY ONLY is the catch.

I doubt we'll ever see a price like this again. It retails above $100 on a good day, even in Japan.

Hope it works out for you.

While the quality of the material and the paintjob definetly seems superior to most of figmas (not all of them though); I cannot agree that the overall quality is better: the sculpt is worse regarding the really awkward and noticeable joints, the face being too-doll like and the fact that every photo in this review looks stiff and unnatural.

One would have to compare the figutto Senjougahara and the figma one to acknowledge how good smile company, while making their figmas look cheaper in some aspects, are much more experienced and have better scupltors working for them (or with more experience).

Considering it's much more expensive, I'd say this line still has a long way to go. For something similar regarding quality of paintjob and materials, I'd say the S.A.S. of Jo Jo Bizarre is doing a great job.

Heroine is misspelled "Heronie" in the preview summary

I don't know what it is about this figure, but the scale of the hat and the head seems off to me. It's probably because the hat is removable, but it still seems off to me. I'd have preferred a separate head, if I were interested enough here.

SAS is absolutely the best figure line in its price range by a mile. No contest. I would review more of them, but it'd be redundant.

Unfortunately, I usually buy my items so far in advance that I rarely get the chance to capitalize on any sudden sales. I'm in no hurry, because I think we're going to start seeing more things like actsta pop up soon. And of course, I'm always on the lookout for new action figure lines...

Isn't there no standard character design for Touhou characters, since ZUN is not exactly an illustrator and fans do the fixing up of the character designs? Every fan artist would have his or her own unique style, so it'd be correct as long as the character is recognizable. I think...
