Yeah, I think Yakitori is too long. Other than that, there aren't really any songs on the soundtrack that I dislike.

My all-time favorites are (in no order): Inner Universe, Fish~Silent Cruise, Run Rabbit Junk, Rise, Siberian Doll House, Stamina Rose, Velveteen, We're The Great, and Some Other Time.

On Be Human, my favorites are (again, in no order): Spotter, Piece By Ten, Runaway Tachikoma, Where's Rocky?, Bang Bang Banquet, FAX me, and Trip City.

I found more than a few sites on that when I did a search:

- Gabriela Robin in the Wikipedia
- ANN own page on Gabriela Robin
- Gabriela Robin fansite

Actually, that third link really has a lot of good cross-references for the speculation that they are one and the same -- that Edward was based on Kanno herself, and Edward does tend to speak in nonsensical phrases, so logic suggests...

That's so interesting, Glory Questor! Thank you for those. (I'm a hardcore Yoko=Gabriella believer myself!) The Sharon Apple theory is really, really interesting. Another piece of evidence, though... in the Macross Plus OVA credits, vocals for "SANTI-U" are actually credited to Kanno(!) but on the soundtrack they are credited to Ms. Robin. But we'll never know for sure! (Gah, I really want to start a thread just for this now, but speculation threads are frowned upon, aren't they?)

If Yoko Kanno is Gabriela Robin, and from what I read on those websites I believe that she is, then that makes her music so much better. Some of my favourite songs in which Robin sings are "Green Bird" from Cowboy Bebop and the ending theme (I don't know the title right now) to Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. The latter is the best Robin vocal I've heard, IMHO.

Back to the topic, I don't really like "Yakitori" very much. But then again, I'm always in a hurry to get to "Stamina Rose, so I may keep skipping it for that reason. Anime smile

"Yakitori" is one of my favourite songs on OST 1. When I first heard the song on the OST, I couldn't believe how long it was. It was the never-ending guitar riff! There is a "Classic Rock" station here that plays music with excessively long guitar riffs, but none as great as this song. I think one of the reasons that I like "Yakitori" is that it's the music that opens the episode "CHAT! CHAT! CHAT!" in GitS:SAC, one of my favourite episodes.

I have a question about the meaning of the word "Yakitori". I looked in my Japanese-English dictionary to look up the word "yaki", since I know that "tori" means bird. Well, the word "yakitori" in Japanese means, "grilled, skewered chicken and vegetables." Why would they call the song "Yakitori"?
