There's no director's cut. Whatever we've seen in the sub was what the rest of the world got to see.

That sounds about right. It took approximately that long for the Bebop movie to make the transition. Debuted in theaters in April and had a late June release, I think.

both the french and the UK discs are labelled directors cut. apparently 5 or 6 minutes longer than the version released in the USA cinemas, and thats not based on the running time for the disc (i.e pal / ntsc slowdown or speedup) ... strange, wonder why the dvds are labelled "directors cut"...?

logboy: It was a mistake on the part of one of the producers.

logboy:Before Sony Colombia releses French Steamboy DVD on April 6th, they announced release 131 minutes director's cut version, 5minutes longer than 126 minutes original.
But it was a mistake. French DVD is not longer than original.

There are only 106minutes short version and 126 minutes Japanese original version.
Sony Colombia think 106minutes short version is original,
126 minutes is director's cut. They are egocentric.
I guess bonus disc of R1 DVD is same as French DVD.

It will come 6 months after the theatrical relase, per industry rules. (CN found this out when they tried to air the Inuyasha movies early).
