I remember seeing scanlations of the Scrapped Princess manga a while back. IIRC the art in it was not as nice as the anime. Also the story was played out very differently, then again I didn't get to read much of it so who knows?

Personally, I'd prefer if they would translate the original novel - although I'm sure the manga will be fine, I'd like to read the original story.

I too would prefer the original novels be translated (though I didn't know it was originally a novel). I've enjoyed the Slayers novels and would love to read the Full Metal Panic novels.
I really enjoyed Scrapped Princess as an anime, so I think I'll at least start reading the manga.
