And so Qwaser II comes to an end.
I do like the character profiles on it, though.. it emulates the manga style more than the anime style, which looks nice in anime-form.

At first I was kinda happy cause i thought otaku had ditched Qwaser, but then I saw that most otaku bought the RE cause the LE was like 20k yen with some figure included.

Qwaser 2 was still a flop so there won't be a third.

Man those are atrocious numbers. The first Seikon No Quaser sold an average of 8,000 and the second season dropped it by 3/4th.

While the first series of Qwaser was excellent, it did start to change things when it got to episode 17, and they started skipping a lot of chapters (Lizzie's character development one, Katja's character development one, etc) They later went back and animated the Katja one as an OVA, but completely changed it and made it very goofy and kind of ruined the point of it.. but on it's own it was a funny adventure. But the series overall was very solid and good, despite tweaking the manga story.
Qwaser II on the other hand....they kind of just threw the manga to the side and did their own thing. The last few episodes especially had the "we really don't give a crap about the manga" feeling to them and were pretty much zany and pointless (but very entertaining) filler episodes: like an episode they spend mostly in chibis and doing Lucky Star-style jokes and antics, and then a sequel episode to a filler villain from the first series. I imagine that's why II didn't do as well as the first, they sacrificed plot and characters for the more comedic/zany aspects of it. I know I felt Qwaser 2 was a huge step down from the first.
The anime seemed to skip most of the very brutal/tragic stuff of the manga in favor of lighthearted boob action, and actually added in a tons of more fanservice (not that I mind the fanservice part, but it's still a crime they skipped episode 30, speaking as a Lizzie fan) The problem is the dark stuff becomes more frequent later on, so cutting it all out makes the show seem a bit hollow and weird sometimes. I think the fans got annoyed with that, and the studio thought they'd buy it just for the girls and not the story. Well, maybe if Katja and Hana got a spin off, but you can't really cut out the story and character development since it's an important part.
