Considering that I already have the perfect sessions, I'm going to hold out for the blu-ray/HD higher resolution version (assuming the master has a higher native resolution) with DTS 5.1. Sound/interviews alone aren't a good enough reason to upgrade, especially with the one-volume-at-a-time payment method.

The article doesn't state if the newly formatted Dolby 5.1/DTS version is going to be released in US. |
"REMIX will feature a completely remixed and remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround sound and"

There is Renewal, which has new Dolby 5.1, or the "Feature Films Neon Genesis Evangelion DTS Collectiors Edition" which was just released in Nov. It contains the Revival of Evangelion version of Death (true) ^ 2 and EoE.

Did you read the article? Remaster sound and video. with tons of extras and interview. No more laster disc transfer.

It's US. Jerry Chu is over at the AnimeOnDVD.com forums dropping hints.

But there's not going to be another release of the TV series is there? I've only bought the first volume of Platinum and I seriously doubt ADV would ever release another version if DTS audio is the only difference. Although, I do like DTS quite a bit...

No, there's not. Well, I'm sure there will be in 2015.

Yeah but it's still a standard MPEG-2 DVD.
I am holding out for a higher resolution VC-1 (based on WMV9) Cowboy Bebop.

and the remastered video, and the interviews with the VAs, and the Session 0 stuff. |
If memory serves, session 0 was a short that was on disc 1 originally. The VA interviews and remastering aren't worth the price of reinvesting.

Moving something like Bebop (a series not made for HD, and although it has good animation, it won't transfer nearly as well as some newer series) will only serve to make any shortcuts used in the animation even more apparent.

Actually only a very small chunk of what was on the Session 0 DVD made it onto the extras for Session 1.

I thought that about Eva Plat too until I saw the first disc.

I haven't decided what to do on Eva Plat yet. Only attraction there is the added footage and killing the overlays. Of course, this late in the game I ought to just wait for the brick that most likely will come out when Eva Plat gets stale.
Personally, I had no problems with the original Bebop. Sound and pictures were fine, and I almost never access the extras, so for me it's not worth it. For hardcore collectors, I can see that.
Now if they would give us a Nadesico Platinum, I'll be there

Awesome. Maybe now people will start new threads every few days asking "My cousin's step-sister's boyfriend's dog heard that there will be a new version of Eva in 2015. Is it true?!?"
