I think we can pretty much count on a US release, and it will probably be available on Blu-ray as well. I think this series is pretty much a guaranteed success, and that's not something I say very often.

This show is so good. It's such a journey back to the days when I first got into anime with stuff like Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion.
I know it's only been one episode but it's great.
It's a damn shame none of the reviewers here like it.

Yeah, but if we're going to have it anytime soon we're also going to have to pay near what the Japanese do.

I wonder if it is your usual sleazy"remove some scenes from the TV broadcast to increase the disc sales" or honest "we remove this scenes due to content that cannot be broadcast on TV/content that would push the episode length beyond 24 minutes".

Interesting. I've never heard of an "extended cut" of an episode outside of it being a TV special, let alone possibly all the episodes being longer. More story depth, character development, or explicit content is welcomed.

Oh, so the series is going to be split into two seasons.
If it gets really good, it would be such a cliff-hanger to stop at episode 13 for months!
But it's a lesser evil if we get a steady animation quality that way.
PS: Third post here, so I'm committed to say that english is my second language ;P

It'll be like Madoka all over again. Those anime companies must have discovered the secret to selling Urobuchi's stories!
If it's a clean cut between the four volumes, the first half will be mostly tension, scuffles, Caster being COOL, and wine-drinking, and then thirteen episodes of shit getting really realer.

Sign me up!! At least now I know that I won't be blowing a huge fortune all at once, more like two small fortunes six months apart.

Going to film seems to be really big these days. My guess is that it offers immediate ticket sale revenue, extremely difficult to pirate unless people want to suffer with camrips, and they don't actually have to do full movie quality production (more like really high budget OVA). It's a no-lose situation for the producers; if fans want to see a film, they have to pay right now.
When else was theatrical anime so big for being addenda or re-dos for TV series, the 70s and early 80s for compilation films? But we can surmise that those were for fans who might not have been able to catch the whole show while it aired and before the advent of home video. Most of the other anime films based off of series in the interim did their own original and usually non-canonically stories, like Escaflowne or Ah! My Goddess.

Why do they even need to cut scenes in the first place?

Considering Caster and his Master (the Master is a serial killer with a penchant for torturing children--and Caster is worse) I think the latter is a safe bet.
