By quirk of chance, I just happened to channel surf to Fox just 5 minutes ago, and one brave soul by the name of Sampson Ingram (or something like that) actually sang a tune from Fist of the North Star. In Japanese.
Unfortunately, he didn't get three verses in before the judges pulled the plug. Nevertheless, I salute you, Mr. Ingram.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the judges' reactions.
The problem is, I instinctively mash the channel up button whenever I come across any of the Fox reality shows...it took me a full three seconds to realize that the guy was singing 'Heart of Madness.' By the time I switched back, they were already on their next victim. I'm assuming he didn't make it to "Ohhh Ohhh~~~! Give me my life, give me my energy!"
Karaoke quality. Which is to say, better than most of the 1st round entrants.

Heh, damn, I was actually visiting my parents tonight and watching AI over there (something I never watch) but left about half way through, must have just missed it.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. Aside from some easily excited anime fans on net forums (i.e. us), nobody is really going to give this a passing thought.

Ya know, i knew someone would mention this on ANN. As i came down from the Attic, My GF was watching American Idol (god knows why) and as i was passing by i heard "I've been waiting for a long, long time..." Holy Shizz! That's from the FOTNS movie!!
Needless to say, Simon wasn't impressed but i'm glad the bro had put it out there. Although lacking in voice talent, the contestant deserves a second chance..hey it worked for william hung.

If he ever gets that second chance, I hope he'll regale us with his rendition of "Dry Your Tears."

Too bad I was stuck in class that night, or I probably would have been roped into watching it. I really would have loved to see an old Hokutou no Ken song performed like that.
Ah, such is life I suppose.

Given that
A- Many people on AI are unintelligable when they sing in English
B- No one outside of anime fans know the song
C-The song wasn't even identified as Japanese
It's a non-event, because no one has any clue what he was doing

Was it You wa Shock he sang?
This guy might put another Asian, reject William Hung to shame.
I was thinking of going on one day just to sing NEWS' song ~Kibou~ Yell!
