As I understand, this is supposed to be one of the best movies ever...in Japan. They cut out the Pikachu short to make the movie better (tho it still wasn't as good as the manga adaption of the movie)...
Iono about the Eng vers tho...tho there's definitely a standard (or lack of) that we can expect.

Hm...I'd be interested in giving it a look if they were willing to play it again. Deoxys is definately an interesting design for a pokemon (one of the few new monsters that isn't just a stale idea), and a very unique monster if you can manage to get it in the GBA games. (Too bad that Nintendo all but disowned the GBA e-Reader, since another "Eon Ticket"-like campaign, where scanning the ticket would give you access to an island with a legendary monster on it, would be good for Deoxys.)

High ratings for Pokemon makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
It's a good thing too know that little kids still love to watch Pokemon. It's all but dissapeared from my view since about 2002... This is a sign that things are still right in the world.

I already thought that Pokemon was already way over its days. I watch i sometimes when it comes on WB once in a while. Always fun to watch an original though.

It looks like all that talk about the "demise" of the Pokemon franchise was a bit premature.
I did manage to see the movie last weekend and it was pretty decent, although I thought that it had a fairly weak ending. Deoxys is a pretty cool Pokemon (although I still think that Mewtwo is the best Pokemon), especially since it can regenerate itself and change shape.
BTW: Destiny Deoxys is not available on DVD in the U.S. yet.
Does anyone know how Pokemon: Jirachi Wish Maker did on CN last week?

I guess no matter how we try to impress others with other options, this is what the normal person is going to associate with anime always...

I'm sure it wasn't "normal people" who were watching this, but kids. No matter how good anime can be kids are going to choose short and fun over long and smart every time. And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that at any age. Just because there are high calibur shows out there doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to just those shows. It's OK to like Perfect Blue and Dragonball Z, we've got the freedom to choose.

I think it's obvious that AnimeHeretic is not that fond of Pokemon. But I think there is some merit in what he/she says.
No matter how hard we anime fans try, there will always be the mentality that anime is a kids-only genre. Pokemon, at its height, was one of the most dominant anime franchises to hit the States. Pokemon, without a doubt, is not really targeted at adults. And due to its popularity, some adults or anime narkers automatically think of it when they hear about anime. I think AnimeHeretic was trying to state that, just not as diplomatically.

I find that rather rude. I may have phrased my post badly, but I wasn't dissing Pokemon. I was pointing out that despite the fact that anime fans try to display the more mature stuff-- to show that anime isn't "just cartoons", the fact is the stuff that is most well known in America is the stuff aimed at kids.
If you have an issue with what you think is an elitist attitude among anime fans, there are many other places you can go and things you can do other than flame people on the forums.
