One of my friends is really into swordsplay, I want to show him a good anime movie but am at a loss of titles... He already saw ninja scroll and wasnt too impressed. He also seems to love naruto.

Your friend probably not into the ultra violent anime so he might not like the Kenshin OVA (samurai x: Trust and Betrayal or even Berserk)
He's more into immature fuffly action series (because naruto doesn't have a lot of "swordplay". So I think a series that's similar to Naruto but done better is Fullmetal Alchemist. Not much swordplay either. And maybe Flame of Recca, which isn't so good but is about ninja ands stuff like that. |

Well if blood and gore aren't his thing and he likes Naruto, try the Kenshin TV series. The first season might be too kiddy for him, but I'm sure he'd like the Kyoto arc. Of course the dub totally reeks, so that may turn him away too. Maybe Samurai Champloo? It has much better animation, great music, and a really good dub.
