Granted, knowing that limited means limited places where the volume(s) would be sold and not copies is actually nice to know, and there is also a chance that Volume 4 may be published as well, but that's about the only good thing that's coming from this.
If they are working with another publisher, it makes me curious as to why that publisher just didn't pick up the rights to Hetalia to begin with. My best guess is that TP will be working with someone like Yen Press, Viz, Dark Horse, etc., who have a well-establish foot in the manga world to get the Hetalia volumes and any other series they might do the same treatment to out. However, if that's the case, the question would be why, if the rights were returned to the Japanese rights holders, those publishers didn't pick up the rights after they were returned. I'm also curious about the "limited" places where the volumes would be sold. I really doubt it'll be sold in bookstores now, considering the only major store in business now is Barnes and Noble. My two best guesses will be through their print-on-demand store (if they decide to have that run again even on a temporary basis) or through other online retailers like Amazon or TRSI as "exclusives". I'm sure either way it'll likely be more expensive than the first two volumes by probably a good $5-$10, but I get the feeling fans will still purchase it like crazy no matter what. I guess this will be something we'll be following for awhile, especially once we see more details unfold. I personally still rather see other companies pick up TP's other titles or for TP to just reopen their NA branch again (although that would be next to impossible), but I guess if there are no "limited copies" this MIGHT work out in the long run for some of the series with only one or two volumes left to go. |

Is TP working with another publisher? But as you point out, it does go back to what I mentioned earlier:
Well, fans have always said they'd gladly pay more to get a rescue. They can't take that back now. |

Stu replied to someone's comment on the status earlier in the day stating that they were going to work with another publisher:
However, because of the details not completely worked out yet, there's no mentioned of the company. |

Wait, I thought Tokyo Pop went out of business months ago?
In addition, this is news to me that Stu Levy is still part of this ordeal as well. I remember a while back most of the Tokyo Pop items were sold, so I figured that would probably be the last time Tokyo Pop would be mentioned for a very long time, if ever again in terms of business. I mean I know there are other branches of Tokyo Pop, but I thought the one in US has shut down a long time ago? Learn something new every day I suppose. |

So, can we request 100% uninvolvement by Stu Levy? I'd gladly buy 50 copies if it means Stu Levy is 100% off the project as a whole, including him not being able to profit from it. |

Stu Levy is a money grubbing bastard! If I never had to hear his name again in relation to manga, the world would be a better place

No, it's more like Stu Levy ripped out the book publishing part (which is like, 90% of it) and took the leftovers to go with him on his wild movie making adventure. This revival has two reason if you ask me: -he needs the money -he can't function without geeky teenage girls worshipping him... you know, like this. |

Yeah. just keep on trolling those Hetalia fans. Like, Hetalia is a title that doesn't sell. Yeah, right. As far as I can see, none of the former Tokyopop titles have been license rescued. DMP has stated that they are "looking", but so far - nothing. So what you "mentioned earlier" has absolutely no merit. None at all. |

Um, FLCL was a license rescue, I think. But actually, what with this new "We'll publish #3!" plan, it might explain why no one else has been able to grab Hetalia. Levy's been holding on to the rights in hopes of something like this. If they're really working with another company... I just don't want any other company to be soiled by this. If it was a license rescue, fine, but just helping Levy fuel his vanity projects? Not something I want to associate with Yen Press or Viz... |

As much as I've come to hate Stu Levy, this might actually make me buy Hetalia vol's 1&2. I had planned on buying them, but when TP shutdown I abandoned those plans, but if they keep putting them out, I may reconsider.
Then again, this could just be a ploy to get people like me to buy vol's 1&2 so Stu can have money to make his next "World's perviest Hentai fan's" web-radio show or something else ridiculous along those lines. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. And, I know I'm probably the thousandth person to say this, but hopefully that means we may get an "Alice in the Country of Hearts" vol 6? But, I'm not counting on it. And, I'll have to agree, I would give up all these series if Stu would just GO AWAY! I was really hoping we had heard the last of that niche killer! |
