Does anyone know the name of the song that runs before Full Metal starts?

"Ready Steady Go," by L'Arc~En~Ciel. I like that song a lot. I heard it way before I even saw the show, and really enjoyed the rock style. Although I haven't heard much of L'Arc's non-anime music, I still consider them a favorite of sorts
 .

Are you sure that thats the one that airs now? If it is, thanks. That's one of my favorite anime themes, along with Outlaw Star's.
Then again, you live in Texas, so you must be near the voice studios. Of course you would know. |

Uh.. well, not that living near Fort Worth has anything do with me knowing each and every action that FUNimation is doing
 , but I've heard the song enough times to recognize it, assuming you mean the Fullmetal Alchemist that is currently being aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from 12:00-12:30 AM EST  . If so, yup, that's the song  .

thats an awesome song. and it fits so well, too! I wouldn't expect a rock song to fit in an anime, but it does

The page for FMA in the archives says the first 14 episodes have a song called Melissa. Which is the one that Has them running, and Ed trips at the beginning?

Trust me, the song they're playing on Cartoon Network's run is "Ready Steady Go." And though the first intro. is actually supposed to be "Melissa" by Porno Grafitti, FUNimation decided to just air the 2nd intro. for whatever purposes they saw fit.
In any case, try checking this thread. |

I like it too. Although I haven't actually heard it with the opening animation, I have the MP3 and enjoy listening to it anyway. The only other Porno Graffiti song I've heard besides this one is "Hitori no Yoru" from GTO, and that was a great song as well.

and, being a great big L'Arc fan, yes, the FMA theme song that is airing on adult swim, is in fact, Ready Steady Go! |

There IS 4 different opening themes, but the one played on the US TV release is "Ready Steady Go" by L'Arc~en~Ciel. This is because they already had the song licensed for the american release of "Smile", one of L'Arc~en~Ciel's albums, so they'd save time and money - rather than licensing the other opening songs too.
Anyway.. The japanese themes are; Melissa by Porno Grafitti Ready Steady Go by L'Arc~en~Ciel UNDO by Cool Joke Rewrite by Asian Kung-Fu Generation Hope that helps to clear it up a little ^^ |

Rewrite by Asian Kung-Fu Generation is by far the best opening theme. Although Ready, Steady, Go! is a good song it's probably ranked 3rd out of all the openings. Undo is also a great song... I kinda wish adult swim kept them in regular order but beggers can be choosers.
