at first i was horrified at the idea of Spike Lee doing this movie, but i've changed my mind. i think it's better to go out there and pick someone strange like Spike Lee because he could do a very different take on Old Boy. most directors would just do an Americanized version that's inferior and basically a waste of time. maybe Lee will do something interesting with it. let's face it, there's no way the remake will be as good so why not pick someone nobody would ever think of?

Which do you think is better: the original manga or the Korean remake film? |

Why? No one sees movies for Josh Brolin, and he's effing stiff, to boot.

I don't know if a general American audience can handle a movie about spoiler[incest].

Awesome, let's hope it does just as good as Jonah Hex. Oh wait...

This. Remaking the korean movie would be a waste of time and adapting the manga directly would suck since second half was f****** awful. Also Spike Lee>Steven Spielberg(current). |

Then how is Asia remaking American film any different from what US does when they remake Asian film? |

It would only be problematic if the movie was promoting it as a legitimate lifestyle. Otherwise I don't see why this would be an issue as far as American audiences are concerned, other than studio suits deciding for themselves whether the movie would sell better without it because of ratings or what not... |

I can see him being a very good fit, I mean he did amazing in No Country for Old Men so I think this would work well. Also I think Spike Lee directing this could either be amazing or awful. Lets face it, he's one of the most hit and miss directors ever. But I guess if anyone is going to take on this challenge it might as well be him.

IIRC, that's only in the Korean remake film, not in the original manga. So the Korean remake made changes from the original. The US remake should be able to make changes too.
Yeah, they should hire big-name actors like Will Smith. |

Hmmm......spoiler[Will Smith is imprisoned for many years, and then is forced to incest-rape Willow Smith. Or Jaden Smith.] Where do I buy the tickets? |

lol, Spike Lee is one of the worst directors working today. Seriously the man is close to Uwe Boll levels of badness. This movie is going to suck ass.

Hey, let's be fair now....Uwe was in it to cheat the tax authorities. Lee is in it to be a racist troll. |
